Coherence

This is just a quickie.

They are switching up Milos medications to, as one doctor put it, get ready to bring Milo in for a landing.  They are lowering dosages or, in some cases, changing them.  The idea is that when they remove the breathing tube on Monday, they can cut some of the meds at the same time and he’ll wake up and be able to breath on his own.

The upshot of all this is that Milo is becoming much more coherent.  He tries to roll over or sit up on his own.  We discourage this because he could easily do damage to himself by dislodging something that shouldn’t be dislodged.  However, we help him as much as we can, which leads to the real exciting news (at least for me).  Milo can communicate.  He gives us slight head nods for “yes” and slight head shakes for “no”.

It’s weird to say, but it’s been fun to see Milo progress, and this is one step closer to being done with this whole thing.

And special thanks to Sami.  You can’t keep that woman down.  She came back to the hospital today to see Milo again, and to bring apple butter to a nurse here that she really likes.  The nurse is from Virginia and grew up on home-made apple butter.  Sami wanted her to have some, so made a special trip to give it to her.  Sami is the coolest.

I guess that’s all, for now.

Hooray for progress. I am happy for you that Milo is moving forward. Tough kid, born fighter, great attitude. Wonder where he gets it…
