Tonight during his nightly distraction Dr. Hutchinson took off Milo’s head bandage. I had gone downstairs and when I came back up I could tell right away that something was different but it took me a moment to realize. He looks so different already!
They put in a pick line today. Apparently the amount of stuff that is being pumped through his veins is a little much for just a regular I.V. so they added the pick line today. They changed all the I.V. hoses and cleaned up his bed. It looks good in here.
They have decided to keep him in his sedated, paralyzed state till Monday morning. However, they have reduced the amount of the paralyzing medication so that he moves a little bit. Right after doing that I rubbed his arm to tell him how good he was doing and he started moving all over the place! I grabbed his hand and he held on tight. They gave him more sedative. Although they want him to move a bit, they don’t want him to move that much! It was nice though to see that there was still life in there and that he still recognized my touch.
He gets 2 ounces of Nutren Junior each hour and seems to be tolerating it wonderfully. He is staying cool and his urine output is still good. They are considering a different catheter since his current one keeps getting clogged.
They had a tube that went around his skull to help drain the fluids off the incision area. They took that off today. His drainage is getting less and less. All good signs. One tube off and only 10 to go!
Picture Time!!
[Gett’n the drainage tube out of his head]
[Gett’n his I.V. tubes changed. That brown bandage is his pick line.]
[Make’n sure his halo is still tight. See his bare head??]
Way to go Milo!! You are doing awesome! I like the hair do too.
