Ok, so this boy is wired! He has 8 different pumps putting in 8 different things. Ready for this??
1 with the paralyzer
1 with the sedative
1 with pain killer
1 with a solution to make sure no clogs occur
1 with regular i.v. solution
1 with antibotics
1 with liquid protien
1 with “food” aka pedialite for older kids
Whew, too many if you ask me. How they keep track of it all is beyond me. That doesn’t even count his breathing machine, his catheter, blood pressure cuff, heart monitor, pulse thing…….
He looks great though. Really he does!
The other thing they are doing is shaking him (not sure what the offical term is). They put this band around him and alternate filling it and deflating it but it goes so fast that it shakes his whole body. It’s really the weirdest thing yet. It almost looks like Milo is having seizures. They are doing it to shake the fluid loose in his lungs so they can suck it out easier. When you are laying in bed and not up and moving it’s VERY easy for your lungs to fill with fluid and so they are trying to prevent anything going wrong. He lungs are clear and sound great, they just don’t want them to get bad then worse. They say it will happen fast. So every 6 hours they do this to him. Better safe than sorry I agree, but it sure does look weird!!
We are thinking of you guys constantly. Our hearts and prayers are with Milo.
Love you guys.
Uncle Dean and Aunt Ally
Thanks for keeping us updated. We too are constantly thinking about you and praying all continues to go well. Love ya’ll,
Maranda
We are all reading your post and are very happy to see things are going so well! You are in our thoughts and prayers and we love you guys so very much! Pleased let us know if we can do anything to help. *hugs* (oh and it’s a negative! Woot!)
That whole lung story is just a bunch of mumbo jumbo. The real reason for the shaking is so Milo can get his groove on! Nothing like a little dancing to break up the monotony of ICU care! Woo… Get down Milo-man!
Seriously though, I hope the little guy gets back on his feet soon. We asked Nina who she though we should pray for tonight. She said “I dunno!” I said “what about a certain little someone who’s name starts with an M?” She responded “Milo is STILL in the hospital?!?!?!” He is in her and our prayers.
Amazing is the first word that comes to mind. Milo is such an amazing little boy to go through all of this with his perpetual happy attitude. Scott and Sami, you are truly amazing individuals with so much strength and love to share. I know that his sisters are also doing an amazing job of praying for their brother during this difficult time. You have such a positive attitude; I’m sure the whole staff there wishes all of their patients’ parents were like you. I’m hoping the road to recovery is smooth and speedy. Love to you all,
Lynn
Your son is the most amazing little person ever! I am in awe of his and your strength, positive attitude and good nature. We cannot wait to see him back home!
I am so amazed and speechless. I can not imagine what you are going through. Thanks for the updates, we are so grateful and we are so glad to hear that Milo is doing well. We keep thinking of all of you!
