They finally decided to put in a feeding tube. Originally they were just going to give him I.V. fluids but that does not seem to be enough. So they fed the tube in and will verify with x-ray if it is in the right place and then they will start feeding him something similar to pedialite.
His oral surgeon came by late this morning and changed his nose dressing and turned his screws 9 times!! Yesterday they only turned them 3. Each turn is about 1/2 mm. Dr. Indreasano (the oral surgeon) said they had to speed up the moving process just a little so that Milo didn’t heal too much before they are done moving him. They are not only moving him out but they are moving him in a downward position too so that his face will be a little longer. So it’s out and down for now. Maybe tomorrow they will change it to only out. Not sure yet, they have to see how he looks everyday to decide on how to move his bones.
His fever is a little unhappy today. But they are doing what they can. The fever is very normal and so they aren’t too worried about it. Just funny that the patients around him all have thick blankets on and Milo in naked. He’s definitely a Sutherland if he’s hot when everyone else is cold.
Everything is progressing as it should. He looks great. His swelling isn’t too bad and his eyes are definitely looking good. At least better than his last major surgery!
Again, thank you for all the kind words and messages that each of you have left. It really brightens our day and Milo will enjoy reading them someday soon. Again, I feel very blessed as I look at all the little ones around me. A very kind grandpa who was visiting his granddaughter came up to me and said that he could tell Milo was destined for great things. That because of him lots of people will be blessed and their hearts turned. I found that very touching and VERY true. He was a sweet guy and he lives in Fresno. Very close to where my mom lives. What a small world.
Till later, have a great day and we’ll see all of you again soon.
[Here is Milo this morning about 9am]
[New nose gauze and that yellow tube is the feeding tube. He’s pretty much wired for sound…..]
We are keeping up on your progress, Milo. You are a very strong young man and an inspiration (as are your Mom and Dad). You are in our prayers.
Sami, we are off to Jaime’s dance class soon, so I will let the others know how things are going and how to check up on Milo. We’ll miss you and look forward to our “team mom” returning to class!
Ann, Amy & Jane (and the Zucker boys, too)
Alix: That does not look like Milo! What happened to the real Milo? Milo looks like a guy from another planet. What happened?
Niah: Dear Milo, You look real. I miss Milo. You are nice. Milo, I wish you were at Grandma’s and Grandpa’s. I love you.
