Already??

Today was a surprise for us all.  We were told that we needed to go back to S.F. one more time so they could cement the appliance.  I guess I should have asked for more details but didn’t and boy was I surprised as to what that meant. I guess when they “cement the appliance” it means they cement it to HIM.  Milo is now the proud owner of a mouth appliance that will be with him for the next 6 weeks (give or take).

[When we first walked into the office, this was on the computer screen.  I thought it was so cool.  So I took a picture of it.  Ok, call me weird!!]

[Making sure the appliance fits properly]

[This is what the appliance looks like]

[His transformation is beginning….]

[As torturous as this looks, it didn’t hurt him at all.  He just closes his eyes like that because the flash from the camera annoys them.  What I think is amazing about this photo is how wide they can open up his mouth.  I really think that is amazing!]

Overall the appointment went quite well.  It only took 2.5 hours.  Not bad really!!  Once again all the doctors said he did marvelous.  The head doctor made some comment about how Milo can sit more still than his two sons.  One of the assistants made a comment about the ages of his kids.  I asked how old his sons were.  He said ’15 and 17′.  We all laughed.  But it’s true, Milo just sits and endures all they put upon him without any complaints.  He really is a special spirit chosen by his Heavenly Father to endure this trial in life.

Tomorrow, off to Oakland for 2 appointments.  Stay tuned…..

Do you think that Grandma’s can be anesthetized or at least given a valium until this is over? I can’t even fathom how difficult this is for him and his Mom and Dad.

Oh boy, that looks familiar! I remember getting that appliance cemented into my mouth too. Milo is such a brave little guy! I cried when they put that in my mouth and I was almost 16 years old! I am glad that it went well for him!
