It’s been 11 days since I’ve added anything? REALLY??? A lot has happened in the last 11 days so I’ll try to recap by event so that it won’t be one long entry but a few shorter ones……
The evening of February 7 Scott asks me if I noticed that Milo’s halo was loose. I told him I hadn’t and took the opprotunity to shake it and sure enough it was loose.
I wrote an email to Dr. Indresano (the surgeon in charge of the halo and appliance) and asked him what we should do.
The next morning I got an email that said to come to the clinic he was having in Oakland that coming Thursday and to get on the schedule so they could check it out. So on Thursday February 11 we went to the appointment.
Before seeing Dr. Indresano we passed the office and saw Dr. Toth (Milo’s plastic surgeon). He said that Milo was looking good and he was pleased with how things came out. Being the plastic surgeon and all I asked him about the left side of Milo’s head. The wound was not looking very happy and I wanted to know if I should do something about it or if it would heal up on it’s own. He said I could put a little Hydrogen Peroxide on it to keep it clean and it should heal up on it’s own. We said thanks and headed on to see Dr. Indresano.
Sure enough the halo was loose. The doctor got out his screw drivers and started tightening things up.
Before he started he says to Milo “Now if it starts to hurt let me know. Don’t scream out just quietly let me know that it hurts, OK?” “OK,” was Milo’s response. After tightening 2 screws the doctor says, “Does it hurt?” “Nope.” The doctor moves on to the third screw. After a few turns on that screw Milo, ever so quietly and very calmly says, “Ummm…..ok……it hurts!!”. All of us started cracking up, even Milo.
What a brave boy. After tightening the side screws he tightened up the front screws too. Then off to Gayle’s restaurant for a sandwich. Thanks Gayle for being Milo’s motivation to do well at his appointments. You are the best pain medicine there is! :o)
