Had to get worse first

Milo had a pretty rough go of it yesterday. He was very squirmy, itchy, sweaty, and even hallucinated a few times. Once he sat up and started grabbing at the air. “mommy, I want those fishies!” Another time he said, “mom, where are we going.” In the middle of the night he sat up and said “in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.” Not sure if that was a hallucination or a plead to his Heavenly Father.

I finally broke and they gave him an “emergency” dose of morphine. But he had a wonderful night. Yay. He did wake up again at 3 am and started his symptoms all over again so I had them give him another dose of morphine, but only half a dose this time. It got him through till 8am when he got his scheduled meds.

Scott and I decided last night that it is time for Milo to go home. He can withdrawal from medication there just as easy as he can here. So I have been mentioning that to anyone and everyone who will listen to me. They said under the circumstances it is something they would consider. They can tell that he would be going home to a good environment and that can be very helpful. Yay!

But the biggest news is that Milo got up in a wheelchair today and we went for a walk. He had his jello breakfast in the cafeteria with me. That was exciting. We even took a quick trip outside so he could get some fresh air. He was exhausted by the time we got back but he had a good time. He talked while we were out and he actually ate.

So we are going to do that often today. Maybe an hour out an hour in. We’ll see what he can handle. I think it will help not only his body but his mind and soul too.

[Another favorite nurse. Perhaps the best because she helped to take care of Milo while he was in the hospital for his shunt. Lorelie is good with kids and fun to talk to. We were blessed to have her again, if only for a short time.]

[Sitt’n in the cafeteria. Yay!!]
