Good night, bad morning

We had an amazing night. Yay! He woke up this morning starving and so I started giving him liquids. He kept telling me to give more, but I think giving him more was too much and he chucked. Even before that he was complaining of pain and headache and he was shaking really bad all over. After he chucked we had to give him a bath. That was so hard. It just hurt to touch him, no matter how gentle we were.

We finally got him back in bed but he just couldn’t stop thrashing to and fro. They tried everything and finally, after 3 hours of this, gave him something close to Valium to help him calm down. He is now resting peacefully for a time.

Apparently the medications he was on to keep him in a comatose state were not meant to be in him for 8 days. So now he is having major withdrawal symptoms. His body will metabolize, but till then this poor boy has to endure the withdrawals. He is taking it with a grain of salt and being oh so very humble about the whole thing. Once again his nurse was in awe on how he handled the whole thing. He is a fighter.

Thank you for all the kind messages and phone calls. Please know I am responding as I can, but might not get to everyone. Thanks for your patience.

Just a side note, Milo looks really different. He’s still Milo but the look is different. I’m a little concerned that if he’s told how different he looks too much he might become a little self conscious. So for those of you that will see him soon, please be sensitive to that. Thanks so much!! :o)

Sami, I don’t know, but I think I’m speaking for all of us when I say that you really don’t need to worry about getting back to everyone. We’re pretty impressed at the amount of updates you do leave! Thank you! What a great way to keep everybody in the loop! The pictures are really helpful at helping the procedure make more sense.
We love you guys. You are amazing, as ever. It must wear you out to be so amazing all of the time! 🙂
You are in our prayers – I just can’t believe how patient you are being, Milo, for such a busy and energetic boy! Sara is excited to have fun being crazy with you when you are ready for it – she just doesn’t get in enough uncontrollable laughter when you aren’t around!

OK, so I’m just getting up to tabs on Milo Man’s recovery! What a trooper! He is definitely the bravest & most patient kid I have ever met! I always knew he had a special spirit about him, and I can’t wait until he is up and about & healed up! My prayers are with you all at this time! Your blogs have reminded me what a truly special family you are, and I love you all! Sami, sorry I didn’t ask about Milo on Sunday (I didn’t know he had surgery until Monday). I’m pretty slow on the uptake sometimes. My love to you all, Lori
