Each day brings new adventures and new challenges.  Today Milo had 2 appointments.  One with pre-op and one with his surgeons.  Good thing they are two floors away from each other in the same building.  Anyway, after parking I turned to look at Milo in the back seat to say something to him and saw it……the ooozzz running from his ear.  NO!!  Not 5 days before his surgery.  That can’t happen.  I call Scott to get the pediatrician’s phone number so that I can make an appointment.  But then it occurs to me that maybe Milo’s ENT is there today and would look at his ear for me.

I run in and ask the person at the front desk if the ENT was there.  Yes he was, yay!!  I explain the situation and she says he’ll see Milo after our pre-op appointment but before the appointment with the surgeons.  GREAT!

Pre-op was easy.  Paperwork and questions.  Then up to the 5 floor.  I get there and they say that the ENT can’t see us till noon (it’s only 10am).  Ok, at least I get to see him.   My appointment with his surgeons is not till 11 so I figure we’ve got some waiting to do.

They called our name 5 minutes later.  I told the nurse that I didn’t want to be stuck in a room for 2 hours.  I’d rather sit in the waiting room.  He said to come in and if it was getting to be a long time he’d let us go back out to the waiting room.

As soon as we rounded the corner we were greeted with many familiar faces.  Doctors and nurses came out of the woodwork to say hi to Milo.  I felt as though we were meeting up with family.  The surgeons came in right away all excited and eager to see Milo and his appliance.  You should have seen how far their countenances fell when I told them about the ear!

But let me tell you, when the right people get involved you can get things done!  The ENT was called up right away and he checked Milo’s ear.  He confirmed that there was a slight infection.  He vacuumed out Milo’s ear and then prescribed  antibiotic ear drops.   He assured the surgeons that Milo would be fine by Tuesday and once again they came back in all smiles and ready to talk surgery.

Milo goes in at 7:30am and they have scheduled the O.R. room for 8 hours.  Whether it takes that long, we don’t know but they have it that long.

Once we were done we headed out.  But were followed by quite the crowd who wanted to say goodbye to Milo and give him high five’s.  One nurse just picked him up and gave him a big  hug!  What a good boy he is!

We had to get blood drawn.  Again, very good!  Didn’t even flinch and thought it was the coolest thing that blood was coming out of his arm.  We got his prescription and headed home.  We started the ear drops right away and I have faith that miracles can happen.  Milo will be well and happy and able to have his surgery.  I just know it!  But feel free to add him to your prayers.  Everything helps.

Glad that you got the ear infection taken care of! I remeber my mom having to go through things like that when trying to get me ready for surgeries. Sounds like you really have a good team of doctors!
