CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Last of the April Updates

on April 19, 2009

-We have had warm weather, cold weather, windy weather and rainy weather. I’m usually the sunny blue weather kinda girl, but this winter I have been thoroughly enjoying the rain. Each day that rain is forecasted I just pray that it actually happens and then I just enjoy the goodness of it. I’ve really been enjoying our windy weather too. I was able to dry 5 loads of laundry in one day because of the wind/sun combo. We folded them and put them all away too. It was a marvelous day.

-Ever since we started potty training Afton she has turned into a big girl. She can change her own clothes quite easily and does it several times a day. I’m not enjoying the extra laundry but Scott reminds me that this is her way of expressing her independence. She doesn’t want to sit in a high chair anymore. She insists on doing everything by herself (including getting her own drinks, which results in a wet shirt which results in a new shirt, see the pattern?). She won’t even swing in the “baby” swings at the park anymore. Guess she is growing up.

-Funny Afton story. A few weeks ago she woke up from her nap and had had an accident (one of only two that she has had while napping). When I went up to check on her she had already undressed herself and was taking the sheet off her bed. When I walked in she smiled at me and said ‘I had accident. I clean it up.’ It really was cute!

-Milo had a doctor appointment on April 1. It was with his ENT. Milo has been having a hard time hearing lately and we figured it was a waxy build up. However, the ENT says nope, it’s fluid behind the ear drum and that tubes will be necessary again. We shall see what comes of that. Milo seems less congested these days and seems to be hearing better. We shall have a follow up appointment and I hope he finds that the fluid has gone away. What a boring summer to have tubes in his ears.

-I’ve officially entered old age. I now know how to knit! I got together with a friend the other night and she taught me how to knit. She is the master knitter, at least I think so. She makes the cutest socks ever. They look like they were bought at a store they are so professional. I am making a sweater. It was super fun to get together and just talk and knit. Now I know why people do it. It really is relaxing.

-After the second session of Saturday’s general conference we had a couple families come over for a quick dinner before the priesthood went off to their night meeting and us moms stayed at our house for some good old fashioned visiting. It was so much fun and I was glad we did it. The kids all got along great and us mom’s enjoyed talking and comparing notes about everything. What a great ward we live in and what great people I get to know and associate with.

-It was slightly chilly here the second week of April. One night in particular I was super cold. Scott was out and Jaime and Alix were still awake but I wanted to go to bed. So I bundled up (sweats, coat, socks, two blankets) and laid down on the couch. I told the girls ‘If I become a Popsicle, will you please set up a heater and thaw me out.’ Jaime just rolled her eyes and sighed, but Alix, very concerned said ‘But mom, I don’t know how to set up the heater!’

-Since Sunday meetings are a little crazy for both Scott and I, sometimes I make my life a little easier and find a wonderful grandma who wants to play with Keri for an hour. Today I found one such grandma and was so glad that I did. Anyway, Scott was telling me that when he went to get Keri, he walked in the R.S. room and she was asleep on the floor in the front of the room using her crackers as a pillow. Sister Hamilton explained that they had put her on the floor while they had a little meeting. Keri was just playing and being so good. The next thing they knew she had laid down and fell asleep. They said she looked so cute they couldn’t bring themselves to move her. They told Scott he could leave her if he wanted to. Scott said she really did look cute but he opted to take her in case she woke up during R.S. crying. I told Scott he should have come and gotten me so I could have seen it. Perhaps we should carry our camera around…. :0)

See? Carrying the camera around is not as crazy as it may sound. I’m sorry I missed seeing Keri asleep on the floor. I was probably chasing my crazy girl around the halls. She won’t sit anymore.

I keep telling myself I’m going to learn how to knit to use the stash of yarn I have. So now you can teach me how to knit right?
