March Madness: Take 1

on March 29, 2009

Too many things to report. March has been such a busy, fun month. I’ll do some highlights (although knowing me, my highlights will turn into more like stories….)

-March has been our movie month. They had free rental Wednesday’s at RedBox and we took
advantage of that. Plus we got a couple of other movies for 75 cent rentals.

*The Work and The Glory, 1st movie: Watched it with some friends for a movie night, LOVED it.
*Fly Me to The Moon: Awful! The kids didn’t really enjoy it either
*Space Buddies: We all enjoyed that one. It was even a little intense for me….
*Wall E: It was definitely thought provoking, but I enjoy words more than sounds when I’m watching a movie
*The Bee Movie: Everyone loved it but me.
*Bolt: We all loved it. Watched it twice!
*The Tinkerbell Movie: We all enjoyed that one too (well, the girls did!) That one got watched 3 times

I’m not usually a big movie watcher, but they were free and we’ve been using movies as rewards for the kids, so it works for everyone. The one thing I have noticed though is that we have pretty much exhausted the possibilities at RedBox. When you only watch G and PG, there isn’t much out there. Guess we’ll have to come up with different rewards!

-Sometimes it takes me a while to get a clue. I’m ok with admitting that. Afton has wanted to do the potty training thing for a few months now. Not something I was looking forward to so I had been avoiding it. I told her we would put on big girl panties after we ran out of her diapers. With my calculations that was suppose to take us to May. Guess my calculations were wrong! A couple of weeks ago, Afton asked me everyday if she could sit on the potty like Niah and be a big girl. Each time I told her no. Then we went to a doctor appointment and she said something in there about going potty on the toilet and the doctor looked at me as if I was crazy not to potty train her. I finally got the clue when she was playing with her doll house and had them ‘going potty’. Besides, we also ran out of diapers that day. So I went with it. Guess I figured I’d humor the little girl. So Wednesday March 25 we went for it. She’s been awesome! The first day she went potty once. Not bad for a first day. That night I went out and got her her own panties. Pack of 10. The next day we went through 8 of them. Not bad. We had no accidents at the park on Friday but a couple at home. Grandma’s house on Saturday was a bit tough. No accidents today though (Sunday). She’s gone poo once on the toilet and then had 2 poo accidents. She wakes up dry from night and naps. She even wore her panties to nap today. But she didn’t want to wear panties to bed tonight. That’s fine. She only has one pull up and I figure we only have a couple of nights worth of it then it goes in the garbage too and she will be in nothing but panties from here on out. What a relief. I’m hoping that I’m not counting my chickens way too soon and that she really is potty trained. We shall see. Stay tuned!!

How old is Afton? Annie potty trained pretty early. She was 2 years 3 months. And it didn’t take long at all. Rebecca potty trained just before her 3rd birthday.
