Saturday was the day of the wedding. We got up “early”, about 7:30am. It was nice to have slept so long and not have any children to worry about. We got up and did breakfast and just tried to pamper Tory. She woke up and proclaimed that she was a bit nauseated and tired.
We got some food in her, made her laugh a little and things looked up. Tory, Brittany and Kelsie all went to get their hair done while Cathy and I tied up loose ends at home.
Then Cathy straightened my hair for me (Thanks Cathy). By the time we were all done with that, the girls showed up all done and beautiful. Since we had a little bit of time, Cathy and I went out and returned some stuff and hit the distribution center so I could get a few things. We made it home in enough time to greet Cathy’s in-laws. After a lunch of sandwich’s and fruit we started loading up the cars.
We got everything in and headed to the wedding hall. That is when the real fun began. We did some decorating and lots of organizing.
By 4pm Cathy was running around doing “mother of the bride” stuff and I was helping to put out fires. By 4:30pm I was “in charge”.
I loved being given that title. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE telling others what to do!! I did get to sit and enjoy the wedding ceremony. The kids all looked great (Thanks Scott and Torry). We sat as a family and enjoyed the beauty of the event. The kids really enjoyed seeing Tory so beautifully dressed and were happy to be part of a wedding ceremony.
After the bishop had pronounced them man and wife, they walked down the isle to an atrium area where they greeted the guests. That helped clear the wedding hall of people and the tables went up.
I dashed around madly to get all the tables decorated and things in order for the reception to start (did I mention how much fun I had??). The reception went off wonderfully. Cathy and Tory did such a great job organizing everything and making it all so beautiful. I am amazed at how simple and yet elegant everything was. Scott finally gave up on the two of us ever dancing together when the kids started running up and down the hall and into guests.
I helped him get the kids in the car and promised him a dance when I got home. We finished up the reception and all the cleaning and were gone by 10pm.
I took a load to Cathy’s house, helped her put some stuff away and then headed back to my family. It was sad to say goodbye to Cathy but it was time to rejoin my family. Thanks Cathy for letting me “be in charge” for a little while. I really did enjoy it and would do it again in a heartbeat. I made it to Tory’s house by 12:45am. We talked briefly. Scott and I still didn’t get our dance, much too late and way too tired!
