CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Utah Trip con’t……

on February 16, 2009

Thursday February 5 was a busy day. There were a few last minute wedding things to get in order, some errands to be run and kids to be taken care of. We did as much at home as we could. That included getting the wedding favor ready.

Tory was so good and let Jaime and Alix help her get those ready. The girls felt so important and needed. Thanks Tory! In the early afternoon, Cathy and Tory went to run errands while I put all my kids to nap.

Jaime and Alix were the only two who stayed awake and they spent that time doing the favors. As soon as Cathy and Tory got home we all got ready to go to the wedding rehearsal. Cathy left a little early so that Jordan could get his driving permit, watch out world…..

We all arrived at the wedding hall in enough time to rehearse and know where everyone should be.

One of the bridesmaids was unable to attend so Milo filled in…..

Anyway, everything seemed to go well and then we all headed over to The Pie for dinner.

For those of you who don’t know what The Pie is, it is a pizza place that makes HUGE pizza’s that are pretty tasty if you ask me!

As soon as we got to the restaurant I realized I had been there before. When I was going to BYU I went on a group date with some co-workers and that is where we went for dinner. It was amazing to see that the restaurant hadn’t changed at all in 12 years.

After everyone ate their full we said our goodbyes and went home.

I got back to Cathy’s first and got all the kids in bed and sleeping before anyone else came home. Cathy and I had promised each other that we would go to bed early. However, after Cathy got back I needed to go to Wal Mart. Our early night turned into 1 am faster than we realized. But we had so much fun though!!!

Friday came very early…… It was snowing outside and the kids really wanted to go out when it was snowing. It was one of those conflicts I have sometimes when I don’t really want to do something, but to “be a good mom” I do it anyway.

This was one of those things. I really didn’t want to get the snow clothes out and get the kids dressed, but they really wanted to and I didn’t think they’d get another chance so I bucked up and did it. It took two hours from beginning to end.

That pretty much shot the morning and any help I should have been. But my kids were happy and they got to play in the snow while it was snowing. Not every California kid gets that opportunity. After getting everyone dry and fed, Cathy, Tory and I headed off to finish the errands while everyone else stayed home and played and watched movies. Thanks Brittany for watching the kidlets for me! After the errands we dashed home, I packed really fast and headed back out to drop the kids off with Torry (my sister in law, not Cathy’s daughter). We met up at a McDonald’s off the freeway in Salt Lake. Torry was a life saver, really! The kids needed more entertaining and, with the wedding so close, they needed a change of scenery. They got that with Aunt Torry and Uncle Kevin. After dropping the kids off (except for Keri, we figured that’d be too much), we grabbed something to eat and then went to one of Cathy’s friend’s house to do flowers. Emily and Erin, Cathy’s friends, are wonderful to socialize with. We had a great time. It was Cathy, her three daughters Tory, Brittany and Kelsie, Emily, Erin and Me. We laughed, joked and gave Tory LOTS of advice…… About 10 Cathy’s daughters left so they could get some sleep and be ready for the morning. Cathy and I stayed because we needed to finish some flowers and I needed to pick up Scott from the airport and it was closer to leave from Emily’s house than it would be to go back to Cathy’s house and leave from there. Scott had some difficulties getting to Utah but he finally made it. I left Emily’s at 11:20pm and went to the airport. Scott’s sister Torry met us there at 12:30 am to pick up Scott and take him to her house. I also gave Scott Keri at this point too. I made it back to Emily’s about 1 am. It was a very fun night. I enjoyed meeting Cathy’s friends and getting to know them better. Erin is an opera singer and does performances here. When I saw a picture of her (before meeting her) I instantly recognized her. When we got to Emily’s I accosted her with questions and it was fun to hear that she knows some of the same people I do. Anyway, another fun, VERY late night. Wedding in the morning, BUT, no kids to disturb our sleeping….. :0) ***I forgot my camera during the flower making fun, otherwise you’d have an eyeful of pictures of that too!!***
