Well, Scott will be home in about 40 hours (not that I am counting or anything). I think we have faired well. We have kept up our routine of family prayer and scripture study. We had FHE with dad on speaker phone. We have gotten school work done everyday and most chores done most days….. I’ve actually had a good wholesome meal on the table each night. I haven’t been too tired, not more than usual anyway. We’ve had fun. Niah I think has missed Dad the most. She has always been more attached to men anyway, so when she was having accidents EVERY hour and tantrums for the freest two days, I realized what was going on. I sat her down and talked to her about where daddy was, when he would be back and that she didn’t need to be nervous or unhappy. She needed to relax and go to the bathroom on the toilet and use her words to talk, not tantrums. She responded very well to my talk and she has only had two more accidents. Even the tantrums have been a bit better. Milo seems to miss the boy companionship but has a good time being the “ruler” over his younger sisters and the neighborhood girls. The rest of them seem to be missing their daddy but dealing with it well. They are all very excited to talk to him each night and go to bed happy knowing they have a mommy and a daddy who love them very much. I’ve filled my days with all the usual stuff and filled my nights with blogging and primary projects. I had 3 things to accomplish for an upcoming activity and I will finish up the last one tonight (I hope). I am not an artsy or crafty person, but I do have to pat myself on the back. For a the primary activity we are going to have the kids fill out a book about themselves and their family. Helping to get the kids excited about family history. Anyway, we got this book that had a great little book in it. I tried to copy the pages from the book but it just wasn’t working. I couldn’t get the book flat enough to copy. So I decided to take a chance and free hand it. It actually came out VERY nice. I don’t want to sound like I am bragging or gloating I was just pleasantly surprised at how good it came out. My presidency couldn’t even tell that I had free handed it. Perhaps I will be crafty one day after all….. :0) The other thing I finally did was update our pictures on the mantle. I always try and keep an updated photo of each kid and the family on the mantle. I usually change the pictures at the child’s birthday. Well, I had to update all five girls’ pictures and the family picture. Milo will get an updated picture in March. I’ll be updating them again before you know it….. But the mantle does look much better now and not so outdated.
That reminds me that I need to update our pictures over our mantle! Poor little Drew doesn’t have a picture framed anywhere in the house!!! Yikes. As far as Scott being out of town goes… just be happy he’s only gone for a week, not a month. A friend of mine just said goodbye to her hubby for a month due to work pulling him out of town. Absence makes the heart grow fonder; how appropriate since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner!
