CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

So many fun things to report on! Tuesday January 20 was Milo’s doctor appointment with his plastic surgeon. We were under the impression this was THE appointment. Scott really wanted to be there but really couldn’t take the time off. Good thing he didn’t! What a wasted appointment. Dr. Toth took a look at him, felt his head and said ‘Surgery in about 2 years should be fine.’ I’m ok with waiting on the surgery, makes my life easier. What was frustrating was that the last appointment we had we were informed that this appointment was to talk about the date of the surgery…..I guess we did!! We are to come again next January to see if his thoughts have changed at all. Ok with me, less appointments to go to!

On Thursday January 22 I woke up feeling GREAT!! I wasn’t sure how much I should do so I just took it easy. I did a few extra things but mostly stuck to my “normal” routine and that was it. I still felt good by the end of the day!

Friday I still woke up feeling good. Good thing too, I was suppose to help my friend Tiesha. Our neighbor John died of cancer the previous Monday and his funeral was on Friday. Tiesha knows the family really well and had volunteered to stay at the house and get it cleaned up and ready for the guests who were coming after the funeral. I went shopping in the early morning so as to take advantage of some great deals that were only going on that day. When I got home I made a few goodies for the funeral and then went to John’s house. Tiesha and I worked from about 1-4 getting the house and food ready. As soon as we were done, I bailed and went home. The kids just stayed at the house watching movies while I was next door. So we spent a good hour cleaning up and me making dinner. Once Scott got home I bailed again and did some more shopping. Saturday I was helping with a baby shower and had forgotten some stuff in the morning. After I did that I went and did my bread pick up. I came home to a house full of people ready for bread. After everyone left I did a few things for the baby shower. Scott was so good and stayed up with me to offer moral support. By the end of the night I was pretty wiped out. I was a little concerned since I still had the baby shower to do and church on Sunday. I went to bed hoping and praying I’d be fine in the morning.

Saturday I woke up feeling great. I had to make a mad dash to the store because I had forgotten more things. I made it home in enough time to make my egg dish and cup cakes for the baby shower and get over to Jill’s house. I was 20 minutes late but Jill was so cool and had everything under control. Thanks Jill!! We had about 6 show up for the shower.

That might sound like a bad turn out, but it was the perfect turn out and so fun! After eating and playing a simple game and watching her open her gifts, we sat around and talked about being parents and what has worked for us and what hasn’t. Most were first time mom’s. Camille and I came in as the “experienced” parents. But it was fun for all and we all learned from each other. At 1:30pm I realized that I better get back to the little ones and relieve Roberta. So I helped clean up a bit and ran out the door. What a great way to spend a Saturday morning/afternoon, chatting with the girls! *Back track* I left the house about 9:45am. Scott was scheduled to leave at 10 am. I took Jaime, Alix and Keri with me to the shower. Milo, Niah and Afton went to Roberta’s. Where was Scott going? He was catching a plane to Atlanta, GA. Why? For a job interview. I gotcha didn’t I?? :0) Google has an office out there and they need some help so they have been asking Tech’s to go out for a week at a time and help out. I guess it was Scott’s turn so he went. He was very excited to go actually. A chance to see a new place, learn new things and “relax” in a fancy apartment all by himself! The kids and I spent the rest of Saturday cleaning up a bit. Having dinner. Watching a movie and going to bed. Church was going to come early so we all needed our sleep.
