CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

The last of ’em

on January 24, 2009

Afton is so cute and so grown up. She walks around acting like a little mommy to her babies. She must do what her older siblings do all the time and doesn’t think going to bed is an option in her life right now. When ever we inform her it’s nap/bed time she yells ‘but I wake up’, as if that matters. She is a pacifier girl. She always has been. Around one year we don’t buy any more pacifiers for our kids. We informed Afton of this and told her when her “whoa whoa’s” (her name for her pacifiers) we either lost or broken that that would be the end of them. Well in December one of her pacifiers lost it’s silicon tip. We were excited but she still wanted it. Whatever. A few days later the other one lost it’s tip too. For the last month she has insisted on sleeping with both of them. The only child we have that has ever insisted on sleeping with a pacifier that is unsuckable. However, she hasn’t even tried to take Keri’s. She knows they are Keri’s and keeps her hands and mouth off. What a smart little girl! Speaking of smart. She still doesn’t like nursery. If her “teacher” is there (Jen Hansen) she’ll tolerate it. Otherwise she HATES it. So on Sunday she actually looked excited to see her “teacher”. Unfortunately Jen wasn’t there, but I had to do sharing time and Scott teaches so I just shoved her in and told her I loved her. She cried for a few minutes but when I checked on her later, she was playing and having fun. About 15 minutes before the end of church, Rachel brings her to me and says ‘Afton says she has a stinky diaper’. I thanked her for bringing her to me and went to change her. It was then I realized I didn’t smell anything. I checked her and sure enough she did not have a stinky diaper. I said ‘You don’t have a stinky diaper’ ‘Yes I do’ ‘No Afton, you don’t’ she smiles. I said ‘let’s go back to nursery’ ‘NO!!’ ‘Ok, you want to come with mommy?’ ‘Yes!’ That little stinker. I’m pretty sure she realized that if she told them she had a stinky diaper they’d bring her to me! What a smart girl. She was so happy to sit with me in primary for the last 15 minutes.

Keri is getting big. She is an amazing sitter. She loves to EAT. She babbles constantly. Loves to smile and laugh. She will “dance” when music is playing. She is drooling and munching on everything so maybe a tooth soon. She is definitely a mama’s girl. She wants me and none else. She’ll settle for Scott if she has to, but would prefer me! No complaints, I love her too. She is pretty much sleeping through the night. She sleeps from 8-4:30. I feed her and she goes back down till 8:30. No complaints. I’d love to cut out that 4:30am wake up and have her sleep 12 hours. But that will come soon enough.

It’s so crazy! Although Afton doesn’t really LOOK like Niah, she’s the same age as Niah was when we left, so I always think that she IS Niah. Ah, they just grow up too fast. Thanks for all the updates. We love hearing about your family!

PS. I think Maya and Afton would get along great! Maya also loves her babies and is very motherly.
