Milo is still all boy. I find it more of a challenge each day to find stuff to keep his mind and body busy. I sure wish more boys lived on this street. His reading and writing are coming along quite nicely. He knows most of the alphabet and loves to read with me (on the days we remember too!!)
We have this plastic Flintstones car (without the top). Milo loved to tie a rope to the steering wheel and whip his little sisters around in it in the middle of the street (we live on a pretty quiet street so that part was fine…..). This actually started when Jaime was about 6. She loved to tie things up and her and Alix would take turns whipping each other around in the driveway in our old house. Anyway, Milo was whipping Afton around one day and got a little close to a parked truck (a beater truck thank goodness) and whipped her right into it. The steering wheel came right off the plastic car and Afton’s head struck the side of the truck. She had a goose egg and the car was shot, I thought. Good thing too, no more worrying about kids getting hurt.
Well today, Milo found a new use for the car. Afton would sit in it, put her feet up and he would push her down the drive way and see if he could get her to hit the curb on the other side of the street. I of course was not outside when this was going on but Roberta was and it was giving her a heart attack. Her girls thought this was great and got out their wagon and started doing the same thing. Now it was a race, who could go fast enough to hit the curb first. This is when I came out. You gotta pick your battles, really! They were having fun and, as of the end of tonight, no one got hurt!! Milo sure does come up with ‘good’ ideas!!
Niah is doing well too. She will body slam anyone who gets in her way but is as sweet as honey if you are on her good side! She loves to sit with Milo and I during our reading lessons and I think she will pick up on reading really fast because of it. Her and Afton play mommy everyday. Niah got some “make-up” from Grandma Ackerman for her birthday. She rediscovered it this week and gave some to Afton. Boy have they looked “pretty” this week. I sure am glad for non toxic stuff…… Niah loves her new primary teacher and is having a good year so far. I’m glad that my kids enjoy primary so much.
