Too many things have happened! I can’t believe how long it has been since I’ve reported. I’ll try to keep it short, but after all, this is for posterity too……
Saturday December 6, was a fun day! We started out with our usual chores in the morning. Scott went to the temple early with the Elder’s Quorum. At 10:30 am I went to my neighbor Roberta’s house and helped her with Emi’s birthday party. I love making up games for kids to play and implementing them. Especially this group of kids. They are so kind and polite and many of them remembered me from Sophie’s party and were so excited about the games again. While I was doing that Scott fed lunch to the kids, did naps and went to Sister Gaisford’s house and put up her Christmas lights. We all met back at home by 3. We spent the remainder of the late afternoon cleaning the house and cleaning up ourselves. We arranged for a babysitter to come so Scott and I could go to a party we had been invited to. The Holt’s, from church, came and watched our kids for us. They are a sweet young couple ready to have their first baby in February. Our kids love them so that was easy. About 15 minutes before they were suppose to show up Keri wanted to go to sleep. I was hesitant but decided to risk it and put her to bed. The Holt’s promised to call if she woke up. We weren’t going to be too far and I didn’t want to overwhelm them too much. We were invited to a couples only party with a white elephant exchange. Becky, the hostess, invited all the couple from her ward and us. I know her through the bread pick up and so she invited us. It was a lot of fun and I actually knew about half the people there from various stake activities and park days etc…. Anyway, it was super fun. We have never done anything like that. Most of the time we just turn down offers for adult only things. I think we will take advantage of it more often!! For the white elephant exchange the HOT items were: A brand new cordless drill (not sure why that was considered a white elephant gift, but VERY nice) and a leg lamp. For those of you who are fans of the movie A Christmas Story, you already know what I am talking about. For those of you who are not familiar with the movie, here is a picture of it. There just happened to be a matching night light too….. Scott had the last number. He had his choice of ANY gift. He couldn’t decide between the lamp and the drill. I was praying for the drill. He did the sensible thing and took the drill. THANK YOU SCOTT!! Tons of fun. We got home about 9pm and all the kids were in bed, the house clean and Keri didn’t wake up at all while we were gone. We chatted for a few minutes with the Holt’s and then they left. Keri woke up right on que. I fed her, put her to bed and we crashed too.
Sunday December 7 was the second Sunday in our entire marriage that we walked in after the opening hymn. I guess the late night was too much for us old folks…. :0) After church we had the Elders over for dinner and our monthly friends for dinner. We had a small party this time; 8 adults and 10 kids. It was fun times and we had a breakfast theme. So yummy!
Monday December 8 we had a normal morning. In the afternoon we went to a trial dance class for Alix. She decided she wanted to try dance and I have a friend who does dance in her garage for $4 a lesson. So for Alix, who is not sure this is what she wants to do, I figured this was a great opportunity She knows 3 of the girls in the class already from other activities we have been involved in so that was a bonus. She decided she likes it and so we signed her up. Right after that we went to Scott’s work and picked him up. About 10 minutes from his work is the great Crèche exhibit. It has about 500 different exhibits from all over the world. They have a kids room where the kids can dress up and this year they had a marionette show with audience participation. It was fun. On the way home we took the long way and looked at some lights. We got the kids to bed very late but it was a fun family night.
