CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Swim Team

on July 3, 2013

My kids have been asking for a couple of years and we’ve been approached many more years than that to join one of the community swim teams. I’ve always pushed back on it because of the commitment and my joy of traveling during the summer. But since we were not going to be traveling this summer, we decided to give it a try.

WE LOVE IT!! The kids are having so much fun and they are learning so much and getting so strong and I love it. I especially love that we are close enough that all the kids can get themselves to and from swim practice on their own! YAY!!

I was so happy that my kids made the team. It’s a very family friendly team and if your kid can make it across the whole pool without assistance, they make the team! I like that! There are more competitive teams in the area, but for now, this works for my kids and their swimming level.

We especially loved having Grandma and Grandpa attend one of the meets. I think they enjoyed it…. :o)

I had forgotten that Scott’s sister Abbey was a swimmer. My brother Steve was a swimmer too. How fun!

Enjoy the pictures!

We were so blessed that all of our swim gear was given to us. These jackets are good on cold days and they keep the sun off the kids!

After a dramatic beginning, Afton is doing quite well! Even though she is six, the coach often has her race in the 8 and under group instead of the 6 and under group.

Love the “dive”!

This girl has done quite well! It’s hard to come into a team at 11 when most of the kids have been swimming since they were five! She is able to hold her own in most races.

On your mark, get set, BEEP….

She is still learning the art of not going so deep when she dives. But her dives are looking really good.

Waiting for her turn on the block.

He’s been learning so much. He’s not a natural swimmer, but he sure works hard at each race. I can’t believe how far he has come!

Every swim meet has a theme. This really helps with team spirit. Milo loved the pirate theme!

This team assigns buddies. Older kids with younger kids so parents can help run the meets. Afton and Niah get to share this time. Lots of younger buddies, not very many older buddies. Amy is AWESOME! She’s helped the girls A LOT.

M&M; Max and Milo.

Alix is actually the older buddy. This was twin day and Alix had these ideas for shirts. So Scott helped her design and implement her idea. They came out really good.

Thanks for coming Grandma and Grandpa!

Keri always needs a buddy to hang out with. Usually it’s Jaime but this time she had grandma.

Between races. Some days they just get tired.
