[Cute picture of Scott and Afton at the rally in the rain. All of our efforts paid off. It really isn’t sunny and bright, even though that is what the picture depicts.]
Monday was an “easy” day. I did finish making my phone calls and we had FHE. It was a nice break from all the business of the last couple of weeks.
Tuesday November 4 was election day! What a blessed day! Scott and I went down early so that we wouldn’t have to worry about getting it done. The line was already out the door and so we had a good 30 minute wait, but it was worth it to mark YES on PROP 8 and vote for McCain. I spent the rest of the day avoiding the media. We did school and chores and other “normal” stuff. We got to bed early and that was nice. I ended up falling asleep on the couch waiting for Scott to come home. He tried to get me to go to bed but I guess I was so out of it I couldn’t move. I didn’t even know he tried to get me to come to bed. I woke up at 12:30am and realized where I was and thought I should go to bed. As soon as I went upstairs it was over. I think the kids could smell me! Niah was up almost instantly and needed to go potty and needed a drink and needed…… I finally got her to bed and then Keri started. She didn’t stop for two hours. At that point Milo got up and wanted to know if it was morning. I should have stayed on the couch!!
Wednesday we had Piano and P.E. By this time I had heard that Obama won the presidential election and that PROP 8 passed. At P.E. the other moms and I (and one dad) discussed it to death. It was fun and we enjoyed the time to vent but also to laugh. My friend Jen also realized that her son’s (Brett) birthday had snuck up on her and she put together a quick “party” for him. So we all joined them at Sky High. It was fun. We got there almost an hour before it opened, we didn’t realize it, and so the kids played tag and hide and seek in the parking lot. Once they opened the kids bounced for 2 hours. Parents are free and they have an area with plush couch’s and chairs and two HUGE screen T.V.’s. One showing all the trampolines so you could keep an eye on your kid and another one with CNN on. So of course we discussed the presidential election more and other things. Again it was fun and relaxing. By the time we left there I had enough time to drive over and pick up Scott and bring him home. So that is what we did. All the kids went up to the micro-kitchen and picked something to eat as a snack. On the way home we went the long way and picked up all our YES on 8 signs, the ones that were left anyway! After we put the kids to bed, we went to bed too.
And now you have recorded some of your part of history being made!!
Just wanted to say hi and that we are thinking about you all. I love your new blog. It’s great!! Your updates are wonderful. We miss you guys!! Hope one of these days we will be able to get together. Please give our best to everyone. Afton looks like a mini Alix. The kids are getting so big and they are adorable. Take Care. Love, Erinn Keep in touch!!
I am happy to hear that Prop 8 passed. At least we know where the majority stands. I still don’t get why the opposing side can appeal the decision that was voted on my all (if they chose to vote). It should just be done, the people has spoken. Hey, can I appeal the decision of Obama? Same thing.
