CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Scott’s Birthday

on March 31, 2013

Scott’s birthday landed on a Monday. Good thing for him he didn’t have classes on Mondays. But he did have to go to work and had LOTS of studying to do. However, he managed to get off a bit early to humor his family and their attempts to make his birthday special.

I had actually pre-planned quite a bit so his actual birthday was pretty low key. In the afternoon the 4 oldest and I went to Sister Beck’s house and made leather belts. I made one for Scott to add to his birthday pile, but, I would soon learn, he’d have to loose A LOT of weight for it to actually fit him! Opps!! Too bad I put his initials on it. Someone might have been getting a belt for Christmas….

After belt making and some shopping we came home and cleaned and I made his birthday cake. He wanted pizza and carrot cake. He also invited the missionaries over. So that was fun. He came home early enough that we did presents first and then had dinner and cake and special thought from the missionaries and then kids off to bed. I think it was fun and successful. I guess you’d have to ask him!

Both Milo and Alix had this fabulous idea to wrap Scott’s presents in duck tape. Layers of duck tape. That took a while….

Alix wrote dad a poem as part of his gift. It was very sweet.

Ever since Milo got his remote control helicopter, Scott has wanted one. So Jaime got him one. He was EXCITED!

One of Scott’s complaints lately has been his lack of shirts. It’s not that he doesn’t have enough shirts, they just all say Google on them somewhere. So for his birthday I went down to Thrift Town (love that place) and got him 6 shirts. I figured if he liked at least one, it was still cheaper than buying one at regular price. He liked 5 of them and wore the 6th one to humor me! :o)

“Happy Birthday to you….”

I should have put 36 candles on that cake…
