CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

New Years Eve/Day

on March 11, 2013

We had such a fun New Years Eve. We house hopped with the Butt Family. It’s so nice to have such good friends so close. We had dinner at our house with chatting and laughing. Then we headed to their house for games and finger foods. We left just after midnight.

The nice part about living so close is that we could put our kids to bed. Keri got to stay up till she melted. Afton stayed up a bit later. Niah a bit later than that. Milo even later. But Alix and Jaime made it to midnight.

We all went to bed pretty soon after our night of fun because there was a Trail Trekker hike scheduled for New Years Day. I know what you are thinking, who schedules a hike for New Years Day?? I DO!! :o)

Half way point and lunch time!

Chill’n in the shade

The cub scouts

all the kids

Family….oh wait, Milo’s not in the picture. If you look closely you can see his arms behind Scott. That little stink ducked out of the picture!

The highlight of the hike….

Apparently Boys dig this kind of stuff. They kept daring each other to touch it. Good thing the moms where there to stop it. I’m not sure the dads would have….

Another view

Alix asked if she could take a few pictures. I think this is very cool.

Another view of the heart

It was fun and our hike happened to be 5 minutes from the Kohn’s new house. So I invited our family over for dinner!

Laura’s son, Dylan, came on the hike with us and then we went and hung out at their house the rest of the day. Scott helped Kevin work on building the shed in the backyard. Laura and I chatted and went shopping and made dinner. The kids just played and Milo enjoyed being in a house of boys!

The only downfall of the entire day is that the counters in their kitchen are slightly higher than the ones in our kitchen. Keri was playing catch with someone and went whipping around a corner and knocked her eye right into the corner of the counter. Her eye swelled instantly and she was miserable. The only good picture I have of her black eye was taken 3 days after the fact. The swelling had already gone down and it didn’t look so black.

Please ignore the messy face!

Another view of the eye, not messy face! :o)

She was taking things pretty good until we were leaving and she was putting on her shoes and bonked her head again. She started sobbing and said ‘Oh no, not a nudder bump!!’

Love these kids!
