[Our masterpiece!! It really came out much better than either one of us imagined. All the decorations are edible except for Ariel. We did have so much fun doing this cake. Thanks Camille!!]
Friday morning I baked 3 cakes, 1 chocolate sheet, 1 yellow sheet and 2 round chocolate. Then I did some school with the kids and some chores and made some food and watch Camille’s boys for her so she could go to the temple. In the afternoon I took all the kids to play at the park. That was fun and relaxing and a needed break from the confusion at home. We left the park at 5:15. I ordered pizza and got the kids cleaning here at our house. Scott came home with the pizza. The neighbors came over and Camille and Dave made it back. Scott took Jessie and Jaime to their Halloween party at Sister Powell’s house while Camille and I fed kids and started decorating the cake. Let me back up….my neighbor, Roberta, was throwing a birthday party for her daughter, Sophie, on Saturday and she really liked the cake that Camille made for her daughter’s birthday. So I volunteered Camille to make Sophie’s cake. Camille actually didn’t mind and I was excited to help relearn a lost skill. After all the chill’ns ate and played and wore themselves out, Roberta took all the kids back to her house for a movie. Camille and I got a lot done in that 1 ½. After the kids came back, Scott put our kids to bed and Dave took his kids home. Camille and I finished by 11. Besides the cake, we made 24 cupcakes too (I don’t have a picture of those. Too bad too, they were super cute). We cleaned up and I got Camille home by 11:45. I came home and finished cooking the beans I needed for the next day and got to bed by 1am.
Saturday October 25 was the busiest day I’ve had in a long time. And I LOVED it!! I felt motivated, energized and happy. I felt as though I had accomplished things during the day. We got up late. Had a quick breakfast and headed to the church. The kids wanted to practice their parts for the primary program one last time before the big day. I also needed some of our Halloween games to use for Sophie’s birthday. We got home in enough time for Scott to go with Roberta’s husband to reserve the birthday spot at the park. While Scott and Milo were gone I got everyone dressed. About 11:30 I left to take Niah to a birthday party. Milo was invited too so Scott dropped Milo off at the party on his way home. Scott stayed with the rest of the kids while we enjoyed a 3 year old’s party. At 1:30 we left. I got home in enough time to nurse Keri, get the rest of the stuff together, including the cake and head out the door to Sophie’s birthday party. Ok, let me explain the cake. All the decorations are made out of chocolate. What happens to chocolate in the heat of the day? Yep it melts. That poor cake didn’t last five minutes before stuff started falling off of it because it had melted. We hurried and emptied one of the coolers and put the cake in. It was very happy to be in the cool of the cooler. The rest of the party went off like a charm. I helped with the games. There were 30 kids there ranging from 3-7 years of age. For the first two hours it was just Alix and I. Scott called at 4 and said the rest of the kids had woken up and so I went and picked them all up. We stayed at the park and helped clean up and then headed home. We were home long enough to pick up our crock pot meal that had been cooking all day and head to the Barne’s house for a pot luck crock pot party. We got there by 6pm. We had so many wonderful dishes and were so excited to chat and enjoy the evening with good friends. We left there by 8 so that we could try and get the kids to bed at a decent hour since it was the primary program the next morning. We got all the kids in bed by 8:30pm. Yay!! It was then that I realized I still had primary stuff to do. So off to the store for me! A tradition in our primary is that we have a party during sharing time on the Sunday of the primary program. I was in charge of that party!! So after shopping and preparing a few things I crashed and burned by midnight. It was such a busy day but very enjoyable. I LOVE parties. I love to coordinate and decorate and announce and be in charge. It is something I love.
