We knew with all the extra people staying at our house we needed a concise shower routine. I have showers down really well around here for Sunday morning and so I took that schedule and just shifted it one hour earlier to leave that extra hour for the others.
It all worked out perfect. Everyone (I mean EVERYONE in the house) was showered, dressed and fed by 8:40am. Record time I think.
We were at the church by 9, taking pictures, setting up last minute things and just making sure everything was ready. A ward member commented later that that was the first baptism he ever attended that started 2 minutes early! I love it.
It was a beautiful baptism. The songs and talks were perfect for inviting the spirit. Niah just glowed. Her dress, made by my wonderful friend Cathy, was gorgeous and fit Niah perfectly. I’m so blessed to have such wonderful friends!
After the baptism we had a few close friends over for a bbq in the backyard (Carne compliments of Grandma and Grandpa! Thanks guys!!). It was a great time to reconnect and enjoy the company of people we have not been able to spend much time with lately. The whole day was fabulous. Everyone left by about 3 and our busy, bustling house seemed quiet. But not for too long. 6 kids make enough of their own noise to assure that! :o)
In closing I have to mention, Niah was so excited to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and still takes her baptism very seriously. I’m so blessed to be part of this wonderful gospel and have children who take it seriously too. I pray that my children will always know the importance of this work. The world may mock, hard times will come, but the Lord will always be there. That solid rock of pure love will always pull you through. I know this to be true and I know the Lord loves us.
