CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Day before Thanksgiving

on December 27, 2012

Thanksgiving was such a fun time this year. It is every year but this one especially nice. We had planned Niah’s baptism to take place the weekend of Thanksgiving and that gave Grandma and Grandpa Thompson the opportunity to come spend Thanksgiving with us.

We all anticipated their arrival. They showed up late afternoon the day before Thanksgiving. They brought such happiness and joy to the day. The kids had spent days helping me clean and get the shopping done and other little details taken care of for the upcoming guests and celebrations and Grandma and Grandpa just brought joy and happiness with them. No chores, no errands, no babysitting nothing. Just pure fun. My kids needed that!

After lots of loves and laughter Grandpa and Scott left to get a tire fixed and the rest of us worked on making pies and getting things prepped for the big day. Grandma got left to finish up some loose ends while I took Jaime to dance class and Scott and Grandpa had not gotten back yet.

But their arrival was one of great celebration because Grandpa brought In-n-Out back with him. Know how long it’s been since we’ve had that?? What a fun treat.

After dance class Jaime and I got back to work and finished up the pies. Jaime is such a good crust maker. She made the best crusts this year. I think they are the best I have ever tasted.

Isn’t that beautiful?

I did forget to mention that the Sunday before Thanksgiving Milo came down with a nasty something that just knocked him off his feet. He was sick for days. By the time Grandma and Grandpa got here he was doing better, but still not himself. Sure did make for a mellow visit! :o)

Kinda funny picture, but it shows the pies cooling in the background. Jaime made 6 pie crusts and did a fabulous job. Grandma and I did the fillings.
