Here are some fun things we’ve done but have no pictures for:

-Early in September I planned New Beginnings for Young Women’s. It was very simple and perhaps the fastest one on record, but very nice and super fun.

-The last Sunday in September was the Ward Primary Program. That was a new experience. I sat in the congregation after 5 years of not sitting in the congregation. AND I only had Jaime to sit with. All the kids did great. Alix, Milo and Niah all had short talks to prepare and present. Afton and Keri had parts to memorize. All the kids fulfilled their assignments and we had NO last minute bail outs. I was a little unsure about Keri, but she did great. She started her part before she got to the mic, and finished on the way down. Almost like the sound of a car speeding past! But it was cute!!

-As the summer drew to an end and it was apparent that there was no Bear Leader for our pack, I volunteered to do it. It has been so much fun! I’m all about field trips and getting others involved. I figure I’d be doing all this with Milo anyway so why not just do it with the whole den. So fun!!

-Alix has been doing more babysitting. She is getting really good at it. She has a regular babysitting job twice a week. She watches 3 little girls for a couple of hours while my friend Tanya gets some stuff done. It works out great. Alix doesn’t make a ton of money but she’s getting LOTS of experience and will be a hot commodity come next summer!

-Speaking of Alix she got glasses. She’d been complaining for a while that things were hard to see, but when it started affecting school, I got desperate and took her to our eye doctor. Alix has been sporting her new eye glasses for a couple of weeks now. The novelty has worn off and she spends more time looking for her glasses than wearing them….

-I’ve had quite a few opportunities lately to fill my van with youth and drive them to an activity. It has been so fun to hear the rumbling of conversation and bursts of laughter coming from the back. They have so much fun being together and my van offers the perfect environment for that. Reminds me of when I was a youth! I love my van!! :o)

-Milo’s appointments are starting up again. They want to expand his upper jaw and so we’ve seen the dentist/orthodontist too many times these last few weeks!! :o) They are nice but that drive to SF is crazy.

-I’ve helped a couple of my friends move lately. My conclusion??? I’m NEVER moving!! :o) We have been here far too long. I’m way too good at hording stuff and it would take a small army or small fortune (or both) to get us out of this place. I like it here. :o)

-We watched little baby Noel for a friend of my for a long weekend. Her and her husband were in a race and I offered to keep the baby so they could have alone time. She is such a good baby. It was so cute to watch my kids take care of her and see her smile and be reminded of how fun little babies are. They are squishy and cute and just make the whole mood of the household fun. HOWEVER, it also reminded me why I love kids who are old enough to be potty trained. How much I value my sleep, especially at 2am. How the crying of one little cherubim can change the whole mood of everyone. I don’t miss the on demand parenting. I like being able to tell my cuties to wait just a minute. Not a baby. I also realized I’m so out of baby mode that I felt old doing it! A little creaky and a lot rusty! A fabulous weekend though. I think doing the rent-a-baby thing is the way to go. Enough of a fix to feel good, but then you send them home.
