Scott and I celebrated our 14th anniversary in September. Wow! 14 years!! We figured this anniversary deserved something special. Usually we’ll get some $1 burgers, or watch a movie together. A couple of times we went to a sit down restaurant. But most of the time our anniversary passes without much ta do.
But this year I wanted to do something. It’s been a long 18 months with him in school and so busy. But there just happened to be a day (the week after our anniversary) that Scott had no school, work or other worries. So I took advantage of it.
Our good friends and neighbors have passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which comes with 2 free guest passes that can be used any time by anyone. So she let us borrow them and we were off.
We left about 8am. We drove and talked and got lost. Typical Scott and Sami Adventure. After we found where we were going we parked at a parking lot that was about 2 miles from the Aquarium. We parked there on purpose because the Aquarium offers a free shuttle ride. After just a few minutes we learned that we were a day late and a dollar short. Literally, the shuttle had stopped operating the day before!!
But no worries, we like walking, we had no place to be and no time to be there so we took advantage of it. We walked through down town Monterey, we walked along the pier. We got some yummy fish and chips, walked in and out of candy shops (I just had to enjoy the smell) and just relished in the slowness of it all.
The Aquarium is a whole different experience when you go with no kids and in the middle of a school week.
After the Aquarium we walked in and out of a few more shops, then headed to the beach for a stroll and then back to the car. On the way back we got caught up in a street fair. HOW FUN! So many shops and vendors and fun things to see and yummy smells to smell. We had a blast.
We got stuck in a little traffic on the way home but all in all a super smooth ride.
We met up with my brother about 7pm and had Chinese food at Mings. Such a good way to end a wonderful day.
The kids stayed home with a schedule of what to do and what they could eat. They did really well and even enjoyed their vacation!
Here’s to eternity with the most wonderful man on earth! I love you Scott! Thanks for making my life amazing.
And Dang it all, I didn’t take the camera!!
