CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Our Harvest

on September 27, 2012

I wasn’t all that good at taking pictures this year of our garden. It think it’s because nothing we planted actually grew.

We decided to use our compost spot as our garden spot this year. After a whole year of throwing everything organic into the same area, we rototilled it under and got magnificent soil. Then we made neat, nice rows, mapped it out and planted a garden that promised huge returns of all our favorites.

That’s not the full harvest. Just the stuff I actually got a picture of!

We got a huge garden alright, but nothing grew where we planted it. We didn’t even plant spaghetti squash and got a HUGE return on that plant. We planted corn but it did not grow in the places we planted it. Instead, individual stalks popped up all over the garden. The same was true for the pumpkin, tomatoes, squash, watermelon and cantaloupe.

See our HUGE orange pumpkin??? That thing is beautiful to behold in person. I don’t want to do anything with it because it’s SO BEAUTIFUL!!

The only plant that grew that we planted and in the right spot was the zucchini plant we planted in the front yard!

All in all another blessed year. But funny how it turned out!
