CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Family Fun

on May 2, 2012

Since it provides an easy family outing, we have really gotten into scouts around here. There are so many things to do that are family oriented that we just make those our family fun activities.

The cub scouts.

Our newest endeavor is helping Milo earn his trail trekkers patches. We went on a hike last month and we went on one this Saturday.

It was such a beautiful area of the Bay

This particular hike was not stroller friendly and so another mom and I stayed back with our little ones while 2 dads and 2 moms went on the hike with the kids.

Everyone at the top

Even though I couldn’t go on the “big” hike we had fun going on a little hike around a small lake and going to the farm and seeing the biggest pig I have ever seen. It was as big as a cow. I honestly did not know that pigs got that big. Crazy!

This little girl wanted to get a picture on this tree. In the background there is an older couple making out. Had to make sure they did not get in the picture.... Family Friendly hike huh??

She's not allowed to climb so Keri settled for sitting on the bottom.

While the main hikers were up on the top of the hill, an eagle flew over head with a snake in it’s mouth. Apparently it was super cool but no one was prepared to take a picture. Dang!!

It was such a beautiful area of the Bay

From the top you could see San Francisco

Can you see the Golden Gate in the background???

It was such a fun hike. However, because of my ability to plan every minute of every Saturday (as I’ve mentioned before) this day was no different. For 5 hours before the hike Scott, Jaime, Alix and Milo volunteered at the Mormon Helping Hands event. They went to a local high school and pulled weeds, shoveled tan bark around trees and did other yard work. Then they came home and did chores for an hour before we had to load up in the car to head for the hike. These kids were TIRED but it all worked out.

After hike family picture. It really was so fun.

The hike went later than we anticipated. In preparation for that, before we left the house we dug around in a junk drawer and yep, there it was. A Burger King gift card I got a few years ago that I thought was in the drawer but not sure. So we treated the kids to some burgers and fries. Big deal around here!!

All in all a perfect Saturday. If you ask Jaime or Alix they swear they lost 5 pounds that day….

Looks fun and what a beautiful hike! I miss those hills. Question for you, are you standing on your tip toes? Haha! I looked at that picture and that was the first thing I saw, either that or high heeled tennis shoes? Love you guys and miss you!!!
