CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Milo’s Birthday

on April 14, 2012

Milo is 9. Even as I typed that it’s hard to believe. I still think of him as 8. But time ticks on and he gets bigger and smarter and handsomer every day!

Frying up the ham

Last minute decorating. Came out so cute though!

This year his birthday was a little crazy. But he didn’t mind. Because his birthday fell during finals week for Scott and he wanted Dad there and he wanted to celebrate ON his birthday, we had a breakfast birthday. I made a big breakfast of ham, eggs, hashbrowns and pancakes. It was so yummy.

MMMM, hashbrowns. I love my helpers in the kitchen!

Birthday Boy!

After breakfast we were all so full that we did our family devotional and everyone got dressed. About an hour later we gathered around the table again and did presents, cake and ice cream. Milo wanted a sword cake. I got this ingenious idea (I’m sure others have done it but it came to me in the wee hours of the morning one morning) to make his cake using cupcakes. It turned out AWESOME (if I do say so myself…).

I do have to confess though….right after I made it I called Scott into the kitchen and asked him what he thought. He stared at it for a moment and we both just laughed. It looked like one of those trolls that used to be popular when we were kids. Short body with really long pointy hair. It really did look like that!!

Can you see the resemblence???

A better angle of the sword. I think it actually looks like a sword in this picture!

Fortunately for me, all the kids LOVED the cake. Even Alix gave me thumbs up. I value her opinion because she is the most creative in the family and so for her to like my creativity is a huge compliment!

If you can get the troll image out of your mind, it really does look like a sword!

After all the festivities we rushed off to p.e. Right after that we rushed off to piano. After that we rushed off to scouts. We finally made it home a little after 6 with a very happy, very tired 9 year old boy.

His brithday cupcake from the Pack. They even sang Happy Birthday to him.

The whole pack. They picked up litter around the park toward earning their Conservation Awards

We all love Milo! Here are 9 reasons why:

THANKS grandma and grandpa! Milo is still anxiously awaiting his opportunity to spend it!

1- He’s all boy. Don’t get that kid around any tools, he’ll take apart an anvil!

2- He loves sports. Despite Scott’s low interest in sports, Milo LOVES them.

A personalized tie and stuffed animal sleeping bag from Alix, a new erector set and slip n slide from mom and dad and his money, this was one happy kid!

3- He can tease one minute and be a super loving big brother the next.

4- His little sisters ADORE him!

5- Kids of ALL ages adore Milo! He has friends that he plays with that range in age from 3-12. He is so easy to play with and makes life fun.

6- He LOVES church and can’t wait to be a missionary someday. He tries so hard to live the gospel and read his scriptures and say his prayers. He has such a strong spirit. He will ROCK as a missionary!

7- He’s smart. He can usually score perfect on his spelling tests. He “gets” math. He LOVES to read and likes to stay up a little later with his reading lamp and finish off a chapter or even a whole book.

8- All the girls at church LOVE this guy.

9- He’s got the highest tolerance of pain of anyone I know. He’s patient with his doctors and parents and endures all things physical really well!!

We love you Milo!!
