CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Basketball

on February 13, 2012

I have been hesitant to get Milo in sports because of the time commitment. Not sure if it’s like this everywhere, but most of the sports around here require 2-3 days a week practice plus all Saturdays and some Sundays. Requiring so much time, I had sworn off sports forever.

Well, we found out that the city of Fremont does a basketball league that meets only one time a week and one hour on Saturdays. I could handle that. So we signed Milo up.

Practicing shooting

I have to say, Milo was not the best on his team, but he certainly wasn’t the worst. He was in the starting line-up every game. He didn’t get the ball very often but he was good at blocking and getting in the middle of getting a ball away from other boys.

Half time practice

"Good Job" team high fives

His team was made up of players that did not have much experience at all. Their coach had his work cut out for him. Milo improved a ton during the last 10 weeks. Scott and Milo worked a lot during the Christmas holiday. Milo got a basketball for Christmas. He worked hard, his whole team did.

The first game they lost by 10 points. It just got worse and worse. By the middle of the season they lost a game by 20 points. About then the team woke up and started doing much better. They started working together as a team and some of the players realized their potential and made some really good plays.

Throwing the ball back in after an out

Saturday February 11 was their last game. They were in the lead the whole game. The last 3 minutes didn’t go so well and they lost by 3 points. A HUGE victory for this team though. They were sad that they did not win ONE game the whole time, but they could see they worked better together and all left the court happy.

#4 is Milo

Coach Samuel Ho

I think it was a successful first season for Milo.
