CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Homemade pot stickers…..mmmmmm

on September 25, 2008

Yesterday, Wednesday September 24 was P.E. We had such a good time. The weather was great, the kids were happy and I even remembered to bring something for the kids to eat. I picked up Logan again. Such a great idea, Thanks Camille!! After P.E. we came home, had a light lunch (since we had already eaten at the park) and tried to do school. I tried with all my might, but it just didn’t work. I was talking to a friend later that night and she reminded me of the importance of setting up the schedule in writing so that everyone follows it and then actually do the schedule. What a great friend, Thanks Erika! So that is what I need to do. I need to stop scheduling play dates and field trips and knuckle down here! I also got a call from Alix’s G.I. Dr and he said that the polyp that he removed was definitely a polyp but that the biopsy of the other stuff was not of polyp origin. However he didn’t explain what it was so I need to call him and follow up on that. After a long afternoon I finally put all the kids into the bath. I put Niah and Afton in together and reminded them of the ‘no splashing’ rule. About 20 minutes later Afton is standing at the top of the stairs. I go up to put her back in the bath and see that the bathroom and 1/3 of the hallway outside the bathroom door is flooded. Had we had a better day to begin with I might have found some humor in this. But I didn’t. Instead I asked Alix to clean up the mess, I washed the two little culprits and put them to bed. They didn’t think that was very fair, but they fell asleep within minutes. Alix used ALL the towels in the house to clean up the mess. But, it got cleaned up. After that Milo and Alix and Jaime had showers. We had early bed times. All the kids were sleeping by 7:30pm. I was going to sleep too but got distracted sorting camping pictures. I did get to sleep by about 9 though.

Today, Thursday, started out as a challenging morning. We finally made it through and were off to Audrey’s house for a pot sticker making party. I picked up the Bennett boys and we all had a great time. It was exactly what I needed. The kids played and ran and got all hot and sweaty. They drank lots of water and ate lots of pot stickers. I was having so much fun I lots track of time. Jaime’s first dance class was today and I needed to leave. I packed everything up lickty split and, with the help of Allegra (thanks girl!!) all the kids got buckled in and we were off. I met Camille half way and dropped off her boys and my Milo and Niah. We went to Jaime’s dance class. It was so nice. Alix read, Keri slept (half the time) and Afton just sat on my lap. I talked and laughed with the other moms and had so much fun doing it. The kids were super good! We left dance class and picked up some milk and then picked up the kids from Camille’s and came home. Everyone was exhausted Niah and Afton went down with no dinner, they were too tired to eat. Milo ate a little but he too was too tired. Jaime and Alix stayed up long enough for me to make another round of pot stickers before being too tired and they were off to bed too. Even Keri is sleeping now! What a great blessing children are and I love them VERY much, but how sweet the sound of a quiet house at the end of a wonderful day!
