CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Missionaries again

on February 3, 2012

We don’t normally have the missionaries over two nights in a row but it turned out that way. Sunday January 1 we had the missionaries and Li-Li and her family over for dinner. There is this Chinese fruit called Durian (don’t know how to spell it). Apparently it takes some getting used to before you like it. But Li-Li grew up on it and so did her husband and her kids are too. For the last 10 years Li-Li has been trying to get me to taste it, but I always have a good excuse. It’s a REALLY smelly fruit and so I usually can us that as my excuse. But alas, all my excuses had run out and they brought two over for us to try.

At different times during the night the missionaries found themselves at the "kid" table! Elder Christianson and the kids.

Elder Mageno and the kids.

There is the fruit. I guess it's so smelly that when you cut it open you want to cut it on something that can be thrown away.

See that knife? Guess this fruit is hard to cut open

Gotta get your back into it....

There it is....looks like open heart surgery!

As you can see you just grab pieces of the flesh and start eating.

Our reactions….

Thanks Li-Li, now I can say I’ve tried it… :o)
