CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

The week after Christmas

on February 2, 2012

Monday after Christmas was clean up and play day. We spent a lot of time visiting with Auntie Sara and playing and cleaning up Christmas stuff. It was fun and relaxing.

Monday night Li-Li came over and brought dinner over. Li-Li is seriously the best cook. She makes the most amazing Chinese food. Everyone LOVES her cooking. It was so yummy I had to take a picture.

Sara and Li-Li have always enjoyed each others company and so Li-Li tries to cook a meal for Sara each time she visits. I’m lucky because then I benefit too! :o)

Tuesday we spent finishing up Sara’s laundry and getting her packed up. We ran a couple of errands, visited mom’s grave and headed to Stockton. We met up with my brother and his family at a park. We were going to play and visit for about an hour but Steve’s car had some problems on the way and so they had to have a quick visit instead. That got us to the train station an hour early. So we (Jaime, Niah and Milo) waited with Sara till her train got there.

Wednesday was a big day for us. My visiting teachers took me out to breakfast for my birthday. That was SUPER fun. When I was pregnant with Jaime my visiting teachers took me out to lunch. I remember feeling very awkward the whole time because they were all experienced mothers and talked on and on about it. I enjoyed it very much, but didn’t feel as though I could add to the conversation much. Now I’m that “experienced” mother and it was a joy to sit around and talk about “mom” stuff. Lucky for me, my visiting teachers are “experienced” to so no one felt left out or awkward.

After I got home we did some cleaning and then Scott and I got ready and went to the temple. We had been planning for a month to have a long date and this was the day appointed. Jaime and Alix had a schedule of what to do with the kids all day and we were off. We went to the temple. Then we grabbed some burgers and fries and went to a neighbors house. The Butt Family was on vacation for 3 weeks and we were watching their house. Tanya told me that we could use it as our own anytime so it would look less abandoned. So we went back to her house and watched all 4 hours of North and South. It was so fun. We ate our burgers and fries. We snuggled on the couch and just enjoyed being only 3 houses away the whole time and our kids didn’t even know it!! :o) All in all a VERY fun date and VERY cheap!

Thursday Steve and Joy made their way to Fremont. They came for only a short time but it was fun. They helped move the last of the big stuff that belonged to my mom to the local DI trailer. They helped rearrange the garage a bit. They took us out to dinner. They enjoyed some ice cream sundaes with us. Then they said goodbye. It was a super short visit, but super fun. Thanks Steve and Joy.
