CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Service is good

on January 21, 2012

I think we all are well aware that service is good. I think people, for the most part, try and render service when asked or when they see a need. But how often do we actually get to do service? How often do we get to participate in those “big” service projects that we hope will leave a lasting impression not only on us, but on our children too? Fortunately for us, we got to participate in said service project.

My good friend Jen Hansen learned about the Toys for Tots drive that is located close to us. Her sons’ basketball team volunteered there a few years in a row. She decided to arrange her own group to go and we were invited to participate. What a fun, inspiring night.

Our job was to “go shopping”. They have lists and lists of children and their dream gift. And they have shelves and shelves of toys. So we were suppose to find the perfect toy, label it and put it in the correct location for wrapping and eventual delivery.

So on Monday December 19 we showed up with our cuties and jumped into action. Scott and I teamed up with Afton and Keri. The rest of our kids teamed up with other friends/ward members and for the next two hours felt on top of the world.

Thanks Jen! We had so much fun. The kids still talk about it!
