CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Random things

on October 8, 2011

Alix has always been my more crafty one. Constantly asking to do crafts, sewing, coloring etc. I’ve always hesitated to let her do much for 2 reasons: 1-if she was doing it everyone wanted to do it 2-I didn’t want a mess.

So when the offer came from a sister in the ward to teach Alix sewing/crafting skills, I took it. Alix has gone for about 3 weeks now and LOVES it. Marilyn lives close enough that Alix can ride her bike there. Alix has been enjoying her new skills and her time away from home. As much as we all love our home and our time together, I think the kids enjoy getting to go somewhere on their own.

Here are the first two things Alix made. Both her and Marilyn say Alix did them totally on her own:

[It’s the pajama pants and pillow case that she made]

For most of our marriage Scott has been less than impressed with my choice of tupperware. It’s usually just used up sour cream or butter containers. Lids and bottoms everywhere, never a lid to match a bottom. So when he had the opportunity to go through all of our “tupperware” and replace it with the stuff that used to be my moms, he took advantage of it!

[The tupperware with the red lids and everything else to the left is the “new” stuff. Do you see that stack of “old” stuff?? Yep, I had all that plastic for left overs and such. Think I needed it all?? :o)]

[See all the extra lids?? Seriously needed to be cleaned out! Thanks Scott!!]

Other random fun stuff:

[I had just finished making pancakes and these two wanted to lick the bowl. It just looked so cute!!]

[I just love this picture of Alix]

A couple of years ago the kids got in on a field trip to a place called Color Me Mine. You can go in there and paint ceramics and then they fire them and they are all shiny. You can make dishes too and this particular field trip they could make a mug or a plate. All my kids chose a plate and have eaten off of it at least once a day ever since. Well, Milo’s plate, unfortunately, had an accident and is no more. I did however get a picture of it for posterity sake.
