CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

A is for Alix and Baseball

on September 3, 2011

August 12 was Alix’s 10th birthday. Since she falls under ‘you get to invite friends to your birthday party this year’ clause, I had another party to help plan and implement. I was a little more concerned with this crowd as they were younger and we didn’t have a set plan of action. But that is how Alix usually rolls. She has an idea and it is perfect in her mind and I just don’t see it. She’s creative and I’m not!

Alix’s first idea was that she wanted to decorate her invites. She did such a good job!! She even let me get in on the action! :o)

All the invites. Creative huh?

Alix’s two favorites.

Then we went shopping to try and find all the things that would make her birthday perfect. Since she wanted a water party we thought it would be easy to find summer water toys. Nope!! Around here you have to get your summer gear in April! We did manage to find a few fun things and were able to check shopping off the to-do list.

We spent a good amount of time figuring out what to do for her cake. She wanted her cake to look like a big water balloon. I just wasn’t getting the vision and the internet wasn’t very helpful. I finally came up with an idea and ran with it. Alix was very pleased with the results.

Alix asked that I put the smiley face at the bottom. That makes it look more like a purple lady bug rather than a water balloon. But she was happy with it!!

We had the party on her actual birthday. We had hot dogs and chips and carrots for lunch. We did some water games in the back yard. They had a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood. Then we did presents and cake. After that the kids played while they waited for their parents. Only about 20 minutes so that was perfect timing.

All the guests ready for fun!

My 10 favorite things about Alix:

-She has so many good ideas. I just wish I had more time to implement them.

The kids put water on the slide. It became so slippery that we put the matress at the bottom to cushion the fall. But then the mattress became too slippery and they’d fly off. They had SO MUCH FUN!!

-She is such a good big sister. She still loves to get down and play with the kids. She’s the best!

-Alix is really good in math.

Looking for the next clue

-She is a good reader. She will pick up any book and good luck pulling her back into reality. I LOVE it!

-Alix has a seriously funny sense of humor. When she gets to laughing you have to laugh too!

Finding a clue

-Giving. She is never selfish and is willing to share anything and everything. Even her new things from her birthday. She is very selfless.

-She always has thought out questions regarding gospel principles. We can see the wheels turning as we explain the answers to her questions.

-Alix is a good friend. She makes people feel welcome and loved right away.

-Alix is good at the piano. In just 2 years she has mastered so much piano knowledge. I can’t wait till she realizes her potential and takes off.

-She is CREATIVE!! That girls is going to be in all the top magazines when she is older. She has really good, creative ideas for everything. I guess that is why she likes art so much!

After all the guests left I put dinner in the oven, packed bags and got everyone ready. We were headed to an A’s game. Alix invited a friend and so did Milo. Jaime’s friends were all out of town!! It was fun to go on Alix’s birthday and she felt very special since I got one extra of each snack just for her. She didn’t have to share.

This picture cracks me up! Each person is showing their personality and I just have to smile when I see it.

Alix we love you! I can’t believe you are 10. That makes me feel too old thinking two of my children are in double digits. As Alix says ‘I’ll be in double digits till I die!’ Love you!!
