CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Utah Fun #10

on August 20, 2011

Whoa, double digits! It might be taking a while to post about our trip, but it was so fun and in 10 years from now I don’t want to forget a single thing!! That is why I must back track. I realized that I didn’t post a single thing about going to Elder Thackery’s family’s house. We stopped at his house on the way to camping with Mandi’s family. They were right off the freeway from where we were going. Perfect!! I left about 20 minutes ahead of the rest of the gang so I could stop off and chat. Then we met up at a gas station right off the freeway. It was perfect.

Elder Thackery’s family was so nice. We had fun chatting with them, giving them the wrong bag of stuff at first and playing in their backyard. It was very fun.

Keri had fallen asleep in the van before we got there. She was not as happy as I would have liked, so when we tried to do a picture she would not get in it.

However….

As soon as we were done taking pictures she started to cry and everyone got back into place and took another one just for her. She insisted on sitting next to Elder Thackery’s dad. I think she was already missing her own daddy!

Milo instantly gravitated to Elder Thackery’s younger brother. He was such a sport about it.

Ok, back to where we were, July 5.

We left Blanding on July 5. After packing everything up and saying our goodbye’s we took the kids to the cemetery to see the grave sites of relatives. Once back on the road, we only got 20 minutes out of town before kids were crying that their tummy’s hurt and they were going to throw up. So we stopped at the first gas station, had everyone go potty and then gave them Dramamine. I was too tired to deal with puke on our way back to Salt Lake!!

Everything went smoothly and we made stellar time. We drove straight into Saratoga Springs to my brother’s house. Unfortunately, no one was there because a few hours before my littlest nephew, Patrick, fell out of a car window and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. Fortunately, he was only bruised and scraped. No serious or critical damage done. YAY!!

I made dinner and we relaxed while we waited for everyone to get home. After we all got back together, the adults decided to go out to eat and let the kids eat the dinner I had made. Good choice! We had a great time chatting and eating and enjoying some adult time.

After all the kids were in bed, the adults stayed up and watched Inception. Not sure if you have seen it, but I thought it was an EXCELLENT movie. I’m VERY cautious when it comes to movies and Steve assured me it was a good movie. I’m so glad I believed him. It was SO good. I’m still contemplating it. I want to see it again to see what I missed the first time.

Anyway, we didn’t get to bed till after 1am. But it was fun and it was our last night in Utah. We had to live it up!!
