CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Utah Fun #8

on August 19, 2011

Sunday July 3 was the most interesting day of all….

Getting everyone ready at a campsite bathroom at 7am was very interesting, but worked out fine. Having all the little people stay quiet and attentive in a different church building with cousins and grandparents everywhere was interesting too, until we found the balcony seating. Trying to get Keri to stay in a nursery she was not used to was….interesting and unsuccessful. Having an unexpected storm roll in and break the poles of our tent was the most interesting event of the entire day!!

After church we went back to the tent and changed. Then we headed to Kate’s house to relax and have a super yummy late afternoon dinner and hang out time with the family.

This little girl fell asleep about 5pm and didn’t wake up till 6:30am the next morning. She slept through multiple hand offs, loud music, singing, jumping on the couch etc. She was wiped out!!

Aunt Fawn leading a family musical fireside.

The Thompson cousins fascinated by something on that little screen. Amazing how many people can look at one little screen and see it…

What an amazing family we have!

3 of Scott’s cousins did a fabulous job entertaining us. Jaime, Alix and Milo all played a piece on the piano. Numerous other cousins played the piano and Megan sang. It was such a wonderful time.

After the musical show, we got all the July birthday’s together for a little song and some cake (Torry’s birthday is not in July).

Very cool cake. Really, it was an ice cream cake! :o)

One of the kids’ favorite parts about Utah…

That’s Milo tied up in that blanket!! He loved every minute of it. I don’t get boys, but Milo sure had fun playing around with his cousins.

In the evening time a storm started to blow in. By the time we got to the tent it was too late. Everything in our tent was soaked. Our tent got caught by the wind and our poles broke. Fortunately, storms blow over fast out there and it was hot and muggy within an hour. Things dried pretty fast and we could have borrowed another tent and set it up, but after such a long day, we took Scott’s auntie up on her offer to sleep in the basement. One really cool thing about this experience was to watch family in action. Everyone pulled together. Some people watched kids, others let us use their dryers and Scott’s auntie opened her home to us. It was an amazing display of how family can rally together and really help out. We felt very humbled and blessed by the whole event. Isn’t family GREAT??
