CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Do you work here?

on August 25, 2008

Wednesday night was not one of my best which made for an interesting Thursday morning. Nothing earth shattering happened during the night, it was just that my Alix could not sleep well. It’s more funny if I can “act” out the night for you. Words just don’t do it justice. Anyway, we got up and made it to piano and swimming. Both very fun. Laura made me another pie crust. Now I have made three apple pies, none of which came out great but each one was a little better than the last. The kids got to bed on time. I went down a little early. Or at least I tried too. Keri decided that sleeping was not in the schedule. She was not fussy, she just didn’t want to sleep. She just wanted to coo and laugh and squeal. It was fun and cute. By the time 11 pm rolled around we just put her in bed and she cried only once then we plugged her and she fell asleep.

Friday, August 22 was a preparation day. We were going to mom’s the next morning and so I wanted to make sure all the laundry and the house was clean. The kids got everything done early and had plenty of time for free time. I think they enjoyed that. Leilani came in the morning to say good-bye. She is a 19 year old sweet heart that is moving to Mississippi to be a nanny for a family. We will miss her but it’s such a great opportunity for her. Scott got home and we had dinner and then went out on a few errands. As soon as the kids got to bed we were going to pack, but decided to wait till the morning. We were both VERY tired.

I got up at 5:30 am Saturday morning. Dressed and packed while my family happily snoozed. Scott was up and going by 6am. We got loaded and on the road by 6:45am. We made it safely to mom’s and unloaded. I fed Keri very quick, changed my clothes and then Sara and I headed to the temple. It was a VERY nice session. We enjoyed being in the temple with the cares of the world on the outside. We were able to enjoy each other’s company and bond more as sisters. It was a wonderful experience. After the temple I called to see how Keri was doing. Apparently she was not happy, so we picked her up and then Sara and I had lunch together. We had a good time together and I hope we can do it again soon. We spent the rest of the day just having fun. The kids watched a couple of movies, played with grandma and Auntie Sara, did a craft, went swimming and just enjoyed being kids at grandma’s! There is this place by my mom’s house called Camp America. We thought that might be the perfect place to get some camping gear we’ve been looking for. Unfortunately when we went to the store to check it out, it had moved. So we called the number to find out where their new location was and ask about some of the products they have. We noticed they had a lot of R.V.’s out in the parking lot and began to think that perhaps they only sold R.V things. So when Scott called he asked ‘do you sell tents and other camping gear?’ The person responded ‘I don’t know, I’ll transfer you.’ We should have hung up then!! The next person was asked the same question and they responded with ‘we have a parts department.’ We said goodbye and laughed for a long time about that one! We hit the road by 7:55. We made it home by 10:30pm. Scott finished up his lesson for Sunday and I went to bed. I was TIRED!! Thanks mom and Sara for hosting us and letting us come crash your Saturday. We had a great time! See you again soon.
