CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Utah

on June 14, 2011

I love that Utah is close. I love also that you can find cheap plane tickets to Utah too! Because when I realized that I needed a break from life, it was the perfect destination! About 3 years ago I went to Utah and was pregnant with Keri. So even though I was technically by myself, I really wasn’t. So this time, I was really by myself and wow, what a GREAT time! The weekend of May 14, I went to spend some time with Mandi. We both just seemed to be in need of girl time and so we took advantage of it. Thanks Scott for the break, it was SUPER fun!!

Scott had a fabulous idea that I take Alix with me and let her spend a couple of days with Auntie Torry, Uncle Kevin and Hunter. It was so fun to have a travel companion on the plane. You get to do fun stuff, like sit in the cock pit, when you travel with a kid….

[So early in the morning…]

[Gotta love all the free juice and hot chocolate you can stand!!]

[We had fun playing games and doing math on the plane]

[Alix the Pilot! She thought that was the coolest part of the whole trip!]

[Thanks Auntie Torry, Uncle Kevin and Hunter! Alix had a GREAT time]

Mandi and I had such a good time talking, laughing, reminiscing and just being plain goofy. Such a good time!!

We spent one whole day in Provo. I haven’t been back there for 12 years. It was so fun to visit our old stomping grounds and laugh about stupid things we did as college students!

[This is where Mandi used to work. We spent many a good times here!]

[Iron Port Soda. I seriously think this is the best soda, but this is the only place you can get it from that I know of!]

[The Glenhole….I mean the Glenwood. We lived here for over a year. Wow has it changed!! Glenhole really doesn’t fit the description anymore!]

[This is NOT what it looked like when I lived there!]

[We are sure this is the same piano that Mandi used to play on all the time. It had no legs and was bolted to the wall!!]

[The view was the same!]

[Lunch at the Malt Shoppe. This is where I worked and it was owned by the same people who owned the place Mandi worked at. We had lunch here. Things haven’t changed a bit!]

[Should have seen what we went through, in the rain, to get this picture!!]

[They sure have added a lot of pretty landscaping to BYU. It was beautiful.]

We had so much fun! We wanted to hike the Y but it was raining. We had fun walking around BYU and I had a shock….they tore down DT. There I was all excited to see my old place, maybe even walk into the lobby. But it was GONE. Leveled. Wow. Wasn’t expecting that.

We also enjoyed visiting with Mandi’s family, watching old high school videos, staying up late and eating WAY too much yummy food. But it was just the refresher I needed and life is good!

*Side note* I was telling a friend here about going to visit my friend in Utah. She asked how long we had been friends and it was the first time I ever made the conscious realization that Mandi and I have been friends for 20 years!! Wow, I’m old enough to have a friend for 20 years. That’s OLD….. :o)

Jealous…. but since our friendship only dates to the single digits, I suppose I can’t complain. :-)
