CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Easter

on June 2, 2011

Easter this year was more low key than usual. In my attempt to focus on the Savior more and Easter being so late, we ended up pushing secular Easter almost completely out the window. Fortunately for me, I have a husband who helps balance me out and a mother-in-law who hasn’t forgotten a holiday yet. I’m so blessed!!

[Thanks grandma and grandpa Thompson for the fun bunnies filled with goodies. The kids LOVED them!!]

The kids did not notice the Easter goodies on the table before church and so when all the other kids at church were talking about their Easter morning the Thompson kids looked a little forlorn. I just smiled at them and said ‘guess you didn’t notice huh?’. They were so excited to go home and see what was waiting for them!!

[Getting ready to color eggs. We didn’t get to this till Sunday after dinner. I told you I was not into it this year!! But we had a good time.]

[This is about how egg dying went…. No we had a good time, really!!]

[Alix saw this in a magazine and really wanted to do it. I think it came out quite nice! She has always been my crafty one. I feel bad that she doesn’t get to do more with her creative side.]

[Two different views of all of our wonderful eggs. We had so much fun doing them and I think they came out so good.]

We also did our traditional egg hunt with our friends the Richie’s in Brentwood. That was super fun this year. No babies to worry about and all the kids get along so well.

We started out swimming. It wasn’t the warmest day but the kids REALLY wanted to so we let them. We figured it’d last maybe 10 minutes. Over an hour later, we told them it was time to move on to other things!!

Then on to the egg hunt:

[Searching for candy/money filled eggs is always fun no matter how cold!]

[Check’n out the loot! The kids scored on both money and candy!]

We also bbq’d which proved to be a VERY yummy lunch where I ate entirely too much! We also played, played, played and talked, talked, talked! Such a fun day! Thanks Erika!

I don’t think Easter “needs” anything but remembering Christ. Boo me.

Perhaps I should blog a little? I mean, if you can do it, so can I right?
