CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

April

on May 30, 2011

Milo’s birthday was my last post?? Really?? What a drag. I’ll update. That is my goal this week. Get updated. Here is a run down of April (well most of it….):

-New washer and dryer! Yes, after 8 solid years of service our washer and dryer died. To make a long story short I got sucked into the hype of fancy ansy washer/dryers out there. After weeks of fixing/re-fixing/getting a new one and 3 nights work on Scott’s part, I think we finally have a working washer/dryer that we can live with for the next umpteen years.

[Good bye old faithful]

[It cracked me up how they just whipped it all out in the middle of the street. Guess when you are that big, you can do what you please!]

[The kids were most excited about the HUGE boxes they got to play with. Guess in the end we were all happy!]

-Milo walking on stilts. Last October Scott got a fabulous idea and made stilts for all the kids one Saturday. Milo seemed the most interested and worked on it but wasn’t overly diligent. After noticing that stilt walking was in his scout book as something to learn, he worked diligently for about 2 weeks. He can now get up on them in the middle of the sidewalk and take 20 consecutive steps. It’s amazing. Too bad we didn’t show grandma and grandpa while they were here for the baptism. We’ll have to take them to Utah this summer and he can show off his skill.

-Our first A’s game. We had purchased these tickets thinking that Milo and Scott and one of Milo’s friends and his dad go. They were a little more expensive than the normal $2 tickets we get, but figured it was worth it. Too bad for them, Scott realized he’d be gone for a conference that day and so Jaime, Alix, Niah and I went instead. IT WAS SO FUN!! We took BART, had some stellar seats above home plate, got a free A’s cap and, imbedded in our tickets, $6 worth of concessions. The girls were sure they were in heaven! They had such a good time and it was fun for me to spend some time with my girlies!

-General Conference. We love watching General Conference as a family. The kids look forward to it each time. It makes me happy to think my children love it as much as I do.

[Stretching while we sing a hymn during conference]

-Easter

-Milo’s baptism

-Jaime made Spudnuts for the first time. Apparently when Scott was growing up, his mom made them all the time. They are doughnuts made with mashed potatoes. Jaime had such a good time making them and they were super good. She shared with the neighbors too and they keep asking her when she is going to make them again! Thanks grandma for having such fun recipes!

[Scott helped to fry up the doughnuts. Such a good dad!!]

-Scott and Sami donated blood and went to the temple together. We also went to the cannery. When I was in charge of the cannery we were there almost every month. But we’ve taken a 3 year break and decided it was time to go back. It was very fun. I love going to the cannery. It’s a way to be of service to others and yourself, all at the same time. How cool is that??

-We attended the Lamb of God performance up at the temple. What a neat experience. It was VERY good and helped us to feel the spirit of Easter in a new way. Some people really have talent when it comes to singing. It was amazing.

-I had a dentist appointment, and a cavity. Erg!!

-Scott, Jaime, Alix and Milo participated in Mormon helping hands. They got to clean up some parks around Fremont. It’s fun because whenever we pass one of the parks they helped to clean they point to it and say ‘I helped clean that park’. What a good experience for them.

-Jaime’s girls camp preparations are well underway. She has attended 4 meetings and they are fervently planning all things wonderful for a first year at camp. She is SO EXCITED!!

-I did another cookathon. We made some REALLY YUMMY stuff this time. We do every time, but this time we especially focused in on the super yummy stuff and it has truly paid off! We eat like royalty when I whip out one of the freezer meals!

-Scott had a 4 day conference. We missed him but he did such a good job!

-Bush removal….

Some fun pictures:

[Keri and Aris have become really good friends. It’s fun to see children grow up and then realize how fun it is to play with other kids.]

[The Groch’s are such tolerant people! My kids LOVE them and they are so good to them. Poor brother Groch. I hope he recovered from having my kids’ feet in his face!]

[Besides this picture being super cute, look at the hanger box. I had asked Keri to put the hangers in the box and she color coded them. I was super impressed!]

My soul rejoices to hear from the Thompsons again! Sounds like you have been happily busy. And so exciting to see Elder Ballard at your stake conference. He visited our stake conference right after we moved here 4 1/2 years ago, and Frankie’s grandmother shook his hand. Awesome. Missed you guys.
