CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

The passing of a great bowl

on March 28, 2011

Do you have that one perfect bowl?? The one that’s a perfect size for just about everything? I had one. Yep HAD….

The day of my bridal shower was a wondrous day. I was nervous about getting together with a lot of sisters from my new ward that I didn’t know too well. The shower turned out FABULOUS. One sister in particular, Sister Joyce Bringhurst, (I knew her quite) well said she was coming but didn’t end up making it. As I was leaving for home she showed up. She handed me a gift and as I opened it she said ‘It’s not much but everyone can use a good sized, good quality bowl. I hope you like it.’. Like it?? LOVED it! It was a sturdy solid glass and it was blue (my favorite color) and just the right size.

The bowl served us well. It’s held pancake batter, cookie batter, pizza dough and it even became the fruit bowl for quite a few years. It was truly the bowl of all bowls.

[Used to make our yearly Thanksgiving feast….]

Then the tragic event happened and the bowl is no more….

It was no one’s fault. 6 kids jumping around and running around and one bowl precariously perched on the counter, is bound to fall with all the commotion and shaking caused by these wonderful 6 kids.

Good bye bowl. You served us well.
