CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Fun Week

on March 11, 2011

Tuesday March 1-Friday March 4 we had some fun times around here!! One of my amazing friends had the opportunity to get away with her husband for 4 days, all expenses paid for by his company. When I heard that she was not going to go because she couldn’t find anyone to watch her kids, I insisted. I’m so glad I did. We had such a good time.

Krissy brought her girls over on Monday night to put them to bed here. They had to leave super early on Tuesday morning and so it made the most sense to do it that way. She got back to pick up her girls on Friday about 8pm. Here are all the blessings we received that week:

-No rain. It was scheduled to rain 3 of the days. Sunny, clear skies the whole week!
-Her girls are amazing sleepers!
-They are not picky eaters!
-For having 9 girls (all 11 or younger) here there was very little drama. I’d have to say only 2 dramatic “episodes”. That’s HUGE for 4 days since usually I have at least 5 dramatic episodes a day when it’s just my girls!! :o)
-All the kids got along great. They played so well together.

-Everyone did their school work everyday.
-The house did not get trashed. I was ready for it, but everyone pulled together and we kept it pretty well organized and clean.
-Krissy brought enough food over that I didn’t have to go grocery shopping the whole week! Thanks Krissy!!
-Even though Keri, Jaime and Scott were sick, no one else got it!
-Milo endured well being the only boy among 9 girls. He just ended up treating all the girls like his sisters…. :o)

All in all it was a successful 4 days. I did get some grief about being nuts, but I was so glad to do it. I just always think about my friends who are here without family and I think about how I felt being a young mom without family around. I was so happy to let the girls come and stay and give their parents an opportunity to get away and reconnect. I hope to help more people this way. It’s really the one service I can render that does not take from my family life too much. Thanks Krissy for the opportunity it was fun!!

[Sorry for the potty picture, but it was seriously the cutest thing to see these two girls facing each other and “talking” away. They must have been like that for 10 minutes! Super cute!]
