CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Milo Update

on March 2, 2011

Milo had a VERY busy February! About 6 weeks ago (so that would mean in January….) Milo had the very cool experience of riding on a cement truck. I’m sure for most of you that might not seem like that big of a deal. But to a 7 year old boy, it’s about one of the coolest things you can do! Our new home teacher works for a cement company. He offered a few months ago to take Milo on a ride and show him the yard and everything. Milo was in heaven. The best 3 hours of that boys life so far!!

In the beginning of February Milo had an eye doctor appointment. His first one in 9 months (mistake #1). I know from years of experience that he HATES the eye doctor. And not just a little bit. To put it lightly, he didn’t do so well. But the doctor got a good enough look to see that Milo had a scratch on his right eye. The doctor thinks it’s from his eyes drying out at night and then rubbing them in the morning. So we had to do a regimen of an antibiotic 4 times a day in the eye and some eye cream on the eye at night before bed and then put an eye patch on at night. The next week we went back and the doctor was pleased with the progress but still couldn’t do a proper exam since Milo won’t open his eyes for him. So he gave me a prescription for some relaxing medication that I’m suppose to administer about an hour before his appointment this week. We’ll see how that goes!! This boy is definitely ready for glass, if he’d ever keep his eyes open long enough to figure out which ones!

On a more joyous note, Milo started cub scouts! He started about 6 weeks early. Our cub scout troop is VERY small so it was needed to make the group a little bigger and Milo needs some boy time so much. So I’m glad he got to start. It does add one more activity to the week, but it’s worth it. He LOVES it!! He’s there with his buddy Toby and for a few more months Ben (Ben turns 9 soon so he’ll move up). He also looks quite handsome in his boy scout outfit. I love to see him in it!

Just last week we had the blue and gold dinner and his den was responsible for the flag ceremony. I couldn’t believe how choked up I got seeing Milo in color guard position.

[For the blue and gold dinner each boy was to make and decorate their own cake. I though Milo did a pretty good job for a first time!]

He’s getting so grown up and he’s such a handsome boy. I feel as though I’ve missed a lot of his growing up. I wonder, where did my little boy go? But I’ve come to this realization with Jaime and Alix too and I suppose I’ll continue down the line with each one of my little babes till I have no more little babes to grow up.

Milo is also doing very well in school. He progresses nicely and picks up on things fast. He will finish all his 2nd grade work before school is done so it’s always the question of moving him on or doing review to make sure he’s solid on all the concepts he’s been taught. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

Milo was given the job of garbage man. It’s his job each Sunday night before bed to make sure all the cans are empty in the house and the big cans are out on the street. He does a fine job. He even remembers to bring the big cans up to the house on Monday night.

His birthday and baptism are coming up and that is all very exciting for him. He is so eager to be baptized. What a special day that will be.

He LOVES his erector set he got at Christmas time and has built 3 different things with it. For him, it’s the building, not so much the playing! He loves to work with his hands and create. The other day he had 3 legos. I couldn’t believe all he could create with 3 legos. Smart boy!

Love ya Milo Man!
