Friday August 1 was THE DAY we had all been waiting for for weeks. It was the Google family picnic! Our memories from last year made us even more excited for this years party. Not only that but they sent out a map of the activities so that made us even more excited. This year they had a bounce house/carnival theme. They had every kind of blow up thing you could think of, and one’s you have probably never thought of before! They had paddle boats that were only in 6 inches of water, but boy could those kids make those boats go. They had a “rat race” where you ran through this maze with water guns and tried to shoot each other. They had a fairway with games and prizes to be won. Face painting, sand box, bubbles, crafts, puppet show, bird show, bubble show, a train, and build a bear stations. Not to mention all you could eat fries, hamburgers, mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, snow cones, cotton candy, ice cream, soda, water, capri sun, hot dogs, corn dogs and a bbq with meat, corn bread and salad. Every kid’s dream really!! We had a great time and the kids were in heaven. They all got to do at least one thing they wanted to. Unfortunately we didn’t get very many pictures because there just weren’t enough hands. Keri decided to have a big blow out and we didn’t bring a change of clothes. Alix almost didn’t get to jump in the bounce house she really wanted to (They told us that the last group had gone in. I begged the lady to let Alix jump. She had sympathy on us and let Alix in. It was soooo nice of her). After being there for 4 hours we got back to the car and got everyone in and realized that the traffic was going to be too much for us so we went back to Scott’s office where the kids informed us they were hungry, HUH??? So they all got a snack at dad’s micro kitchen and then played Starfall for an hour. Then we left. The traffic was much better and we made it home in no time. We had dreams of all the kids sleeping so well. But, they all fell asleep on the way home and had just enough of a nap that they were ready to go! We finally had everyone down by 10 and we crashed too! What a fun day. A really, really fun day! We are very blessed to work for Google and for our kids to have these opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have.
Saturday August 2, we got up early and Scott and Jaime went to the cannery to fulfill our ward assignment. They had a great time and came home ready to do work here at home. Scott jumped right into his outside chore of getting the front yard ready for our party and Jaime did her normal Saturday chores. The neighbors came over to play and that was really fun too. We had an early night and that was good!
Sunday was a good day too. Except I woke up on Sunday not feeling well again. I made it through church and then literally died on the couch. Scott had to bring Keri to me for feeding, otherwise I was out of it. I finally went upstairs to the room and just slept. I slept till about 5. Came down for dinner and beds and then crashed again at 9. Scott stayed up till Keri went to bed, bless his heart.
Well I know what I am planning my CA vacations around in the future! I’ll have to make sure to come visit while Google has their picnic! That just sounds like too much fun! One of these days I will actually update my blog…
