CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Fun Stuff, No pictures

on December 19, 2010

We have done some fun things as a family already. Unfortunately I have no pictures. Hopefully you can get a visual from my descriptions.

On Sunday December 5 we attended the Christmas Creche that they do every year in Palo Alto. We enjoyed it SO much. The kids are older and each one was capable of looking without touching and staying together. It was a very fun event. I think it’s the first time we didn’t take a stroller too. That was helpful! I really enjoy looking at all the different interpretations of the Nativity. I especially enjoyed the picture gallery this year. It was beautiful. The marionette show did not disappoint as usual and we were able to see Sue. Our once a year reunion with Sue Allen. We love her!

On Wednesday December 8 I went to our R.S. Christmas party. I have a lot of fun at those over the years, but this year it was especially fun. Not sure why but I enjoyed seeing all the sisters together and feeding off of their energy and love. I appreciate each of the sisters in the ward and miss seeing more of them on Sundays. But I do love primary and seeing all the primary children, so it’s a good trade off!

Thursday December 9 I went to a mom’s night out with one of my homeschooling groups. I don’t do things with them often, but sometimes I attend things and this one seemed worth going to. It was a lot of fun and I was able to meet new ladies and enjoy their company and learn their stories. It was a fun night and I enjoyed it very much.

Friday December 10 Scott went with the bishopric and the youth for a temple trip. I thought it the perfect night to party with my two oldest girls. So I put the littles to bed and Jaime, Alix and I stayed up playing Skipbo and eating junk and listening to Christmas music. It was VERY delightful and I was glad we did it. After Scott got home we spent some time singing and dancing in the living room before retiring to bed. We had an amazing time and it’s times like these I hope the children remember forever!

Saturday December 11 Scott put up the Christmas lights outside the house. They turned out beautiful. Thanks Scott! And true to our yearly tradition, it rained on Scott while he was hanging out the lights.

In the evening we went to our first High Priest social. It was fun to talk with everyone and I really enjoyed being in the Hansen’s home. It’s so beautifully decorated and filled with the spirit that it’s a happy place to be.

Monday December 13 we attended a reenactment of Bethlehem. A baptist church in Santa Clara goes all out. They recreate Bethlehem in a way I have never seen. I don’t think I can adequately describe the feelings that were associated with this family outing. I really felt as though I was in Bethlehem during Christ’s birth. I felt the spirit when baby Jesus was laid in the manger. I felt the energy and excitement as the angel appeared to the shepherds and they came running to find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes. I was humbled by the wise men and their humility in presenting gifts to this new born babe. I was brought to tears as the spotlight dimmed and you heard a voice singing silent night and just stared at the wise men, shepherds, Mary, Joseph and the baby all perfectly still. It was the most amazing thing I have witnessed and it has helped me to put my Christmas hustling into perspective. It was also fun to walk the streets of Bethlehem and let the kids touch and try all the different things that may have been going on during that time in history. A truly amazing event. You can check out their website and see for yourself.

Many more things to report on but that is good for now. I actually have some pictures to share next time, so stay tuned!
