CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Niah’s 6!

on December 2, 2010

A few days after we got back from Brawley, we got to celebrate Niah’s birthday. Usually we have the neighbors over for cake and ice cream but this time they had other plans, so Niah wanted to have the Dalrymple’s over. I’m so glad they came. We had a fun little party and all the kids had a great time playing with each other. Niah felt like queen for the day.

The day before her birthday she went to breakfast with daddy. She LOVED that. The day of her birthday she didn’t have to do school or chores. What a lucky little girl!

She wasn’t too sure what she wanted for her cake. She only knew she wanted flowers and maybe a butterfly or two. Here is the creation I came up. She was quite pleased!

[Unfortunately, I made a mistake in the right hand corner and didn’t have any more blue frosting to fix it. O’well. The cake still got eaten!!]

When it came time for the kids and I to wrap Niah’s presents, we realized that we couldn’t find the birthday wrapping paper. So we made our own. It was really fun and the creation turned out really nice.

The kids had a good time using their own money to buy their sister some gifts. Afton wanted to spend all the money she had. Even though I thought that was very generous, I had her only spend half so she had some for Christmas presents. My children are so giving and so wonderful when it comes to birthdays. We have very little jealousy around birthday time.

We had pizza and salad for dinner. Chocolate cake and cotton candy flavored ice cream for dessert. She got lots of lovely presents and was the happiest girl on earth that night. We love you Niah!!

My six favorite things about Niah:

1- She is such a good friend. She is caring and kind and shares really well. She’s as good as any girl at quarreling, but Niah is definitely a friend worth having.

[Emilie, Niah and Sophie]

2- Niah is good at sharing.

[This is what she has been wanting!]

3- Niah is happy and carefree. She really just smiles her way through life.

4- Her imagination. She has the most fun making up things to play or animals to be. That’s what makes her such a fun friend/playmate. She can imagine anything.

5- She loves to be pretty, but is practical about getting out and getting dirty too.

[Ashley Dalrymple and Niah. Niah hero worships this young lady! No complaints!!]

6- Her love of learning. She does all her school work and begs for more. I hope this love of learning never dies!

We love you Niah. Thanks for being a part of this family. It wouldn’t be the same without you and your wonderful spirit.
