CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Even MORE Utah!

on November 5, 2010

The main purpose for making the trip to Utah was to participate in 2 baby blessings. Scott’s brother Dean and sister Torry both had a baby in the same week. So they planned a fun filled family weekend of baby blessings, good food, good conversation and of course family pictures!

Saturday morning started early. Scott and I made some yummy breakfast sandwiches while the kids started showering. We had the whole family beautified by 9am. We had our own little family photo shoot outside of my brother’s house and then headed to the big family photo shoot.

On our way out we realized I didn’t know where my cell phone was and when we tried calling it, Wal Mart answered. So we ended up making a stop there first!

With all the family things going on this weekend, we opted to listen/watch as much conference as we could. So while we drove to family pictures, we were able to catch the first talk of the Saturday morning session.

Family pictures went as well as they could when you are trying to photograph 25 people, 12 of which are children.

[Attempting a cousin photo….]

[There’s a nice one!]

After much smiling and lots of bribing we headed off to the church building to bless baby Hunter.

[Getting some energy out before having to sit still!]

[Grandma Thompson (aka grandma with the white hair) was there. The girls were excited to see her.]

The blessing went really well. It was neat to see all the brothers stand in the circle together. Such great memories. After the blessing we all went back to Torry’s house for lunch. Cousins played, grown ups talked. It was such a fun afternoon. The men folk left quite early and went to the conference center for the priesthood session of conference. Afterward they went to Fudruckers and then rolled in pretty late that night. Us women folk left all the cousins to eat pizza and candy and went to eat at Red Robin followed by shakes at Artic Circle.

It was a super fun day. I left Torry’s and had the kids to bed way before Scott and my brother Steve would come strolling through the door. So Joy and I went to Wal Mart. Apparently in Utah they have this great price matching program combined with coupons. So you can get some pretty screaming deals. Here is what I got:

24 cans of cream of mushroom soup
5 boxes of Cherrios
5 boxes of granola bars
2 dozen eggs

Are you ready for the price??? $5. Yes folks all that for $5. I felt as though I had robbed the store or something. It was awesome! Then I brought some of the coupons home. I didn’t get as good of deals but eggs here were on sale for 89 cents. Then with the coupon I got them for 45 cents a dozen. Very cool!

Anyway, after the men got home we had ice cream and chatted a bit. We had some fun times until way too late. But it was worth it. How many times do we get to have good conversation with good people??
